10 features of Xiaomi Mi 5 to be considered

On the day of yesterday, after so much anticipation and rumor of all kinds, Xiaomi's new flagship of the Xiaomi Chinese House was officially presented at Mobile World Congress 2016 My 5 | Xiaomi Mi 5 official |. In the previous days and always at the MWC, other competing companies have also been presented Waiting for Xiaomi Mi5, let's take a look at the competition | and, therefore, which device to choose? However, before answering, take a look at these ten characteristics of the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Feature No. 1: 4-axis Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS)

A feature highly appreciated by "photo maniacs", this new version of the 4 axes image optical stabilizer is an absolute novelty that no other brand has implemented. In fact, competing devices make use of an optical image stabilizer to 2 axes only, while using an 4 axes stabilizer it is possible to get much more stable photos and videos (underlying video).

Feature No. 2: Deep Trench technology (DTI)

This technology allows a pixel-by-pixel isolation that allows you to obtain much sharper and more defined photos, especially in low light conditions. In practice, it is as if each pixel has an external barrier that allows it not to be affected, and not to affect, the adjacent pixels so as to be able to capture the exact hue of what we are capturing. Take a look at the images taken by the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Feature No. 3: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820

Qualcomm's new flagship chip is the engine that drives this great machine. Compared to last year's flagship chip, the 810, this new chip is based on a custom architecture made by Qualcomm itself (Core Kryo) which is the 100% 810 CPU's most powerful and 40% more performance of the 810 GPU. This allows him to reach the amazing 142.084 score in the Antutu Benchmark, much more than their respective competitors.

Feature No. 4: UFS 2.0

This new technology used for the internal memory of the device replaces the previous version used for the Mi Note (eMMC v5.1) managing to double the reading / writing speed, with an increase of 87%.

Feature No. 5: Back cover in 3D Ceramic (only available in the Pro version)

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has two different back covers available. In the "basic" version, that is the one with 32 and 64 GB internal memory, the mounted back cover is in 3D Glass (curved glass), while only in the Pro version (the one with 128 GB of internal memory) this special back cover will be applied. It gives the smartphone a sense of higher quality but its key feature is hardness. In fact, this back cover ranks among the hardest materials in the world, obtaining a value of 8H on the Moh hardness scale (to be considered that diamond, the hardest material ever, reaches a value of 10H).

Feature No. 6: 4G +

Thanks to the modem module included in the Snapdragon 820, the X12 LTE, this smartphone supports 4G +, a technology that allows download at a speed of 600 Mbps, as well as the ability to make high definition voice calls (VoLTEs).

Feature No. 7: Full Netcom 3.0

This function is able to triple the reception of the telephone signal with a technology of a higher degree of signal modulation, able to increase the overall transmission efficiency (for example, you would be able to download a Full-HD movie in just 30 seconds).

Feature No. 8: Display and backlight

This year Xiaomi has really focused a lot on both the camera and the display (the latter, in fact, has been awarded 21 patents).

Also, thanks to the greater number of LEDs used for backlighting (normally, in an 5,2 display "12-14 LEDs are installed in the thumb, and in the Mi 5 panel they have been applied well 16), this display appears to be much brighter than the competition, achieving well 600 nits and with a reduced energy consumption of 17%!

Feature No. 9: Quick Charge 3.0

This technology is allowed by the presence of the Snapdragon 820. In a nutshell, with this technology you can recharge your smartphone by 80-90% in just 60 minutes! In addition, this new version of Quick Charge is 20% faster than the previous version (2.0).

Feature No. 10: Full support for NFC

This is an absolute novelty as the full NFC support allows the reading / writing of the NFC tag, the emulation of cards with this function and the P2P. This is an absolute novelty because until now, and on all current devices, NFC is only able to read NFC tags.

Finally, there is the price issue to consider. The current top of the range competitors just presented, have prices far higher than the Pro version of the Xiaomi Mi 5! We are talking about:

  • LG G5: Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory = 699 € (excluding modules)
  • Samsung Galaxy S7: Exynos 8890, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory = € 729 (€ 829 for the Edge)
  • Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro: Snapdragon 820, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory = 375 €

Note that this price is in exchange for Chinese, so you will also have to add the various taxes and customs duties but will definitely not come at the price of the competitor. After these considerations, what will be your next device? Let us know with a comment.
