Xiaomi Miloco: Artificial Intelligence Enters the Smart Home

Xiaomi has launched today Miloco, a new smart home solution that promises to revolutionize the way we experience domestic spaces. The full name, Xiaomi Local Copilot, already suggests the project's ambition: to create an intelligent assistant that manages the entire home thanks to the power of an advanced language model.

Xiaomi Miloco: Artificial Intelligence Enters the Smart Home

Miloco is not a simple automation system, but a platform that uses the reasoning and calculation of a large-scale model to interpret family needs and translate them into smart rules, without the user having to navigate complex scenarios and configurations.

Miloco is based on the MiMo-VL-Miloco-7B model, an edge visual system that interacts with the home environment through four fundamental dimensions: interaction, perception, ecosystem, and security. This structure enables seamless and scalable management of all IoT devices in the home, optimizing interaction logic and expanding customization possibilities.

The heart of the system is the Mi Home Camera, which provides visual input to the AI model. Users can communicate with Miloco in natural language, intuitively defining daily rules and needs. Whether it's turning on the lights at dusk, adjusting the temperature based on occupancy, or creating complex security scenarios, Miloco interprets and reacts without the need for manual programming.

Xiaomi has chosen to make Miloco open source, publishing it on GitHub and inviting developers and enthusiasts to contribute to its evolution. This is an important step towards the democratization of home AI and a clear signal of the brand's commitment to building an increasingly open and collaborative smart ecosystem.
