Xiaomi NAS: Leaks Reveal Advanced Specs and Features

Xiaomi looks ready to enter a new market segment with its first NAS (Network Attached Storage), a product that marks a significant turning point for the brand's ecosystem. The idea wasn't initially envisioned in the official roadmap, but came about almost by chance: a promotional image of a Xiaomi 10G router, reminiscent of a NAS setup, sparked speculation and feedback from the community. This interest prompted the company to actually develop the project.

Xiaomi NAS: Leaks Reveal Advanced Specs and Features

According to tipster Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the new Xiaomi NAS will support both 2,5-inch and 3,5-inch SATA hard drives, ensuring flexibility for a variety of users. Compatibility will be broad: Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, and even Linux TV systems. The approach will be that of a device designed for home use, with a simplified, plug-and-play experience, similar to what we've already seen with Huawei solutions.

Some leaked images show the device from the side, without revealing too much about its design, while a supposed spec sheet printed on the box lists dimensions of 200,5 × 85 × 16 mm, along with USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, and 2,5 Gbps Ethernet.

Chen Bo, General Manager of the Xiaomi ecosystem, described the NAS as an intelligent storage hub for Mi Home users. The device will be able to easily connect with Xiaomi smartphones, tablets, PCs, and TVs, offering advanced features such as mobile storage expansion, automatic AI-powered photo album organization, media library creation with poster walls, cloud access, and remote downloads.

Mass production and internal testing are expected to be completed as early as October 2025, and the official launch is expected by the end of the year, coinciding with the arrival of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The goal is to offer an accessible and intuitive NAS, different from enthusiast models, but capable of integrating seamlessly into the smart home ecosystem.
