In the last few hours, news has been circulating that Xiaomi will take away the chargers from the upcoming Redmi Note series. Or rather, he has already started doing it with the newborn entry level series. Reading many comments from displeased and disappointed users, we thought it was right to clarify the matter. Emphasis is being placed on a key issue: that the company wants to do it to save money. It's not like that at all.
Controversy over Xiaomi and Redmi chargers missing from the packages
The EU has been expressing its opinion on the matter for two years now and the decision seems to be almost definitive. This change, which we are seeing first on Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones, is due to second phase of the European Regulation on the single magazine, which pushed the industry to adopt the port USB-C as a universal standard for charging. The regulation requires that by the end of 2024 the magazines will be removed from the packages and sold separately, with the goal of reducing the number of unused magazines.
For consumers, this shift brings with it a mix of mixed emotions. There is enthusiasm for a greener future, but also a hint of frustration for the possibles Costs additional. Among other things, we find ourselves deciphering new symbols on the packaging, even if ultimately this is not the biggest problem. These symbols may be confusing to consumers:
Removing chargers from packaging is good for the environment and helps reduce electronic waste. However, consumers may need to purchase a charger separately to take full advantage of their devices' fast charging capabilities, without one no actual savings on the final price of the product. It is true, however, that Europe has not decided to look at savings but at a more sustainable economy.
But coming back to us, it's quite no point in blaming Xiaomi (first in line) due to the absence of the charger in the package. This is pure fake news. If it were up to you, this decision would probably never have been taken: in fact, it is the foreign manufacturers themselves who propose high standards of power and speed. What would they gain by not including them?
