Xiaomi SU7 Beats Tesla in Battery Life: Unbelievable Numbers

Xiaomi SU7 travels 265.000 km in 18 months and the battery holds the 94,5% healthA result that exceeds Tesla's estimates, which predicts 70% residual capacity after just 160.000 km. The data comes from China and has made the rounds on social media, reaching Lei Jun. who shared these numbers on his social media channels, increasing Western users' desire to buy the first Chinese EV.

Xiaomi SU7 Beats Tesla: Battery Remains at 94,5% After 265.000 km

The protagonist is a certain Mr. Feng, owner of a SU7 purchased just a year and a half ago. It has been used intensively: 373 km per day on average, seven days a week. The equivalent of a daily non-stop Rome-Milan journey. The reason for such extreme mileage is unclear, but the battery data is unequivocal.

The Xiaomi SU7, also studied by Ford with great attention, Riding a 94,3 kWh battery packGiven the distance traveled, it has already exceeded 500 complete charge and discharge cycles. This number actually underestimates the actual cycles, given that most users charge between 20 and 80% to preserve the battery. Yet its health remains at 94,5%.

The comparison with Tesla makes the significance of the result clear. According to Tesla's official estimates, a Model 3 or Model Y after 160.000 km maintains about 70% of the original capacity. Feng's SU7 has traveled 100.000 kilometers more and retains 94,5%. A difference that doesn't go unnoticed.

Other manufacturers expect a 20-30% degradation after eight years or similar distances. The SU7's battery is clearly performing better than industry standard expectations. Feng has already saved around €14.300 in fuel (estimated in € based on data reported by Chinese sources) and aims to reach 600.000 km within three years.

The case caught the attention of CEO Lei Jun, who relaunched it on Chinese social media. For Xiaomi, making its debut in the automotive sector, it's excellent publicity. Battery life depends on many factors: ambient temperature, charging habits, variations between cells. But this result demonstrates that the company has hit the mark on battery quality.

A single vehicle does not represent the entire production, but the message is clear: Xiaomi SU7 can compete with the big names in the industry on longevity, as it has already done in terms of security.
