Xiaomi is preparing to officially enter the tracking device market with the launch of its first Xiaomi Tag, an accessory that promises to directly challenge competitors like the Apple AirTag and Motorola Moto Tag. According to the latest rumors from reliable sources on Weibo, the product is now nearing completion and could be presented on December 26, 2025, during the event dedicated to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, alongside the new Xiaomi Watch 5 and the Buds 6 earphones.
Xiaomi Tag: The new smart tracker ready to challenge AirTag

The marketing name now seems to be confirmed: Xiaomi Tag. Initial information indicates support for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, which enables extremely precise short-range tracking. This is the same feature that made Apple's AirTags particularly popular, thanks to their "Precision Finding" function.
But the real innovation is its compatibility with the Google Find My Device network, which uses nearby Android smartphones to anonymously transmit the tag's location, even when the device is offline. This way, Xiaomi Tag fits into an already established ecosystem, ensuring broad coverage and reliability.
The smart tracker market is no longer a newcomer: brands like Chipolo, Pebblebee, and Motorola have already launched products with UWB and Google integration. However, Xiaomi could stand out with its aggressive pricing.
Currently, devices like the Moto Tag or Pebblebee Clip can be found on Amazon for over €25. If Xiaomi can offer its Tag with similar or superior specifications at a lower price, it will have a significant competitive advantage. The brand's strategy is often to offer products with excellent value for money, and this new tracker could replicate the success already seen in other segments.
The launch of the Xiaomi Tag isn't just a new market entry, but part of a broader strategy. By integrating the tracker with its ecosystem of devices—smartphones, smartwatches, earphones, and even smart homes—Xiaomi aims to offer users a complete and interconnected experience.
If the rumors are confirmed, the Tag's debut will mark the beginning of a new challenge for Apple and Motorola, who have so far dominated the sector. For Android users, however, it could finally offer an affordable and reliable alternative to prevent losing valuables.
