A new Xiaomi patent launches the gauntlet to Moto Razr and Galaxy Z Flip

It is true for years that we have heard of ultra futuristic patents that promise revolutionary smartphones, yet since last year we have been able to witness a real innovation as well as a revolution in the tech field. Let's talk about folding smartphones, once a utopia and today a reality. 2020 will certainly be the year in which the other telephony brands, in addition to Huawei and Samsung, will delight us with their experiments. At the moment we have been able to see 3 different types of folding smartphones: curved display towards the outside or inside but also a kind of dive into the past thanks to the Motorola Razr which with a "shell" design folds the display back on itself thanks to an elaborate sliding mechanism.

Idea also taken up by Samsung, which should soon show off the new Galaxy Z Flip. What about Xiaomi? Well after a long time from the official video, in which the company manager himself was holding the company's first leaflet, a patent now appears on the net that fully incorporates the idea implemented by Motorola.

A new Xiaomi patent launches the gauntlet to Moto Razr and Galaxy Z Flip

The patent shown in the USPTO database shows us how Xiaomi would be thinking of a folding device very similar to Motorola RAZR. Probably a winning idea that combines the philosophy of the past with the modern one, allowing you to have a compact device in your pocket but at the same time to extend the potential and productivity thanks to the new folding display technology. It should be noted, however, that in the Xiaomi patent the hinge of the mechanism appears slightly shifted upwards and this results in the presence of a shorter side than the other, so in short FORGET THE BEAUTY OF WHAT SHOWN BELOW.

Of course, the patent is not said to go through, in fact most likely in the race for the presentation of the first foldable owner, Xiaomi could launch on the market a solution seen in the official video of about a year ago. Or maybe the photo above may not only be the result of the imagination of a good designer, who perhaps was inspired by something seen in Xiaomi's secret labs? Well, admittedly, the idea tickles us all, right?
