Whenever a new smartwatch with heart rate sensor is released on the market a good portion of readers asks us: but does it have ECG functionality? Well, apparently this much requested feature, or at least something similar, is about to land on two wearables recently presented by the Chinese brand Huami, let's talk about the Amazfit GTR 47mm and theAmazfit GTS.
Amazfit GTR 47mm and Amazfit GTS updated in China, now with detection of atrial fibrillation
Huami Technology has announced that the two smartwatches have just received an update that will allow us to detect a possible atrial fibrillation or other heart abnormalities. This feature is useful precisely to be able to understand if we have heart problems and then encourage us to go to a cardiologist for further checks. In any case, the functionality will only be available on Chinese devices for the moment, but the update should also arrive on the Amazfit GTR 47mm and GTS sold outside the Asian country in the coming weeks.
From the hardware point of view, the Amazfit GTR and GTS are equipped with a BioTrackerTM PPG sensor, which is an optical sensor for monitoring the high-precision heart rate developed by Huami. This allows the smartwatch to check the 24 hourly heart rate on 24 with a high sampling rate and low energy consumption.
In addition to the sensor just mentioned which makes it possible to detect anomalies in the heartbeat, the two smartwatches also have some really interesting specifications that have made them become among the best sellers of the Chinese brand. In particular we have high-definition AMOLED displays on both devices with a PPI (pixel per inch) of 341 on the GTS (known as retina resolution in marketing language). Moreover, the smartwatch recently received the Always on Display feature to be able to read the time at any time.
Finally, among other interesting features we have excellent 24 days on the GTR and 14 days on the GTS, water resistance up to 5ATM, 12 sports modes, a high precision GPS module and much more.
