In addition to the new Amazfit GTS presented a few minutes ago, wearable manufacturer Huami also released the new Amazfit Sports Watch 3. The device is the successor of the Sports Watch 2, one of the best-selling smartwatches of the brand and with the 98% positive feedback on the Chinese stores Jingdong and Taobao. This series is also the most devoted to sports, as the name suggests, so there are also all those features required by the most hardened sportsmen.
Amazfit Sports Watch 3 is official, the best sports smartwatch?
The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 is made of polycarbonate and a mixed fiberglass polymer. We also have a 316L stainless steel sports bezel and waterproof to 5 ATM. The new Sports Watch 3 is lighter than the previous one with a weight of 59,6 grams and also more resistant thanks to the materials used.
The smartwatch uses a display called "Full Moon Display", in other words it is an 1,34 inch screen diagonal (320 × 320) with 260 thousand colors created specifically by JDI (Japan Display Inc.) for Amazfit. The display is reflective and therefore it will be perfectly visible even in the sunlight even though it consumes less energy. Finally, Amazfit says the screen is the 25% larger than other similar sports watches with 1,2 inch screens.
From the "smart" point of view, there are obviously plenty of different sports modes to keep track of our activities. We have a total of 19 sports modes including: outdoor running, walking, outdoor cycling, swimming in the pool, swimming in the sea, indoor running, elliptical, hiking, mountaineering, trail running, triathlon, weightlifting, skiing, soccer, tennis, jumping with the rope, rowing machine and indoor fitness.
The sporting mode data mentioned above is collected thanks to a chip dedicated to sports, while for daily activities we have another less performing chip with lower consumption.
To activate this second chip just set the "Ultra Mode" mode for an increase in autonomy from 7 days in normal mode, up to 14 days in Ultra Mode. With this last mode active we still have the heart rate tracking for 24 hours a day, we receive different notifications, active NFC and well 11 sports can be recognized.
So, in practice, if you are a professional athlete, you will use the smartwatch in normal mode for a greater number of recognized sports and more accurate detections, while if you do sports not at a competitive level you can use the smartwatch in Ultra mode and extend battery life .
Finally, we have an optical PPG BioTracker sensor that serves to obtain more precise information regarding the heartbeat and a four-satellite positioning system: GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo.
The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 will go on sale in China at the 1299 Yuan figure, around 163 euros at current exchange rates, for the basic version. There is also an Elite variant with a titanium case, a very high quality sapphire crystal to reduce the possibility of scratches to the minimum and finally the fluorine rubber straps, more resistant than the silicone ones of the basic version. The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 Elite will be sold at 1699 Yuan, around 214 euros.
