Yesterday we saw how two of the brand's oldest devices can count on the support, albeit unofficial, of Android 11. In fact, the developers have created ports that allow you to enjoy all (or almost) the features of the new release of the operating system famous for being open source. But Xiaomi Mi A2 and POCO F1 they are not the only ones: also Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, Xiaomi Mi 8, Notes redmi 5 Pro, Redmi Note 8 / 8T e Redmi Notes 9S may have major releases through support unofficial. Of course this does not mean that they will not receive the update directly.
Android 11 is available, unofficially, also for Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, Xiaomi Mi 8, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 8 / 8T and Redmi Note 9S: download now!
Although there is no official list that confirms which devices will be updated to Android 11, some of those reported here we are sure that they will not receive the official update. In particular they will be Xiaomi Mi 8 and Redmi Nore 5 Pro. This is because being the oldest in order of release they could be left by the official developer support. But modding saves everyone and so here are some Custom ROM you can install to have the new operating system on these smartphones too.
You can click on the titles of each sub-section to go to the official thread
This custom ROM, as we understand from the name and from the image above, is based on the Pixel Experience and was created starting from a port of the Google Pixel 3. Clearly being an unofficial port not necessarily all features will work. In particular, the bug for which "Ok Google" is not accepted from the device. In any case, the ROM in question is supplied with the security patches of the month of September. Below is the download link to recovery. We remind you that to install this type of ROM it is necessary to do it unlocking the bootloader and proceed with the ROM flash.
As you can imagine the custom ROM for Notes redmi 5 Pro is based on LineageOS 18, one of the best and most stable around. Although it is among the most popular, unfortunately it is not free from bugs. In particular, a error in the recognition of the fingerprint through the rear sensor. For the rest there are not many known problems except minor bugs. Also for this custom ROM you can proceed with the download of the recovery, always paying attention to the notes above: unlock bootloader
In record time also this smartphone, among the first to receive the MIUI 12 however, it also received unofficial support from developers. For him too it is one ROM custom recovery to download. Same indications as above. Overall this ROM hasn't seen many problems and turns out to be one of the most stable around. Hats off!
The custom ROM for Redmi Note 8 and 8T (same as the first but with NFC chip) is based on AOSP Vanilla 11.0. As for the previous ROMs this too it does not present particular criticalities but we still invite you to read the official XDA thread very carefully as all the bugs (small and large) of the port are listed there. Recovery Also here.
For the new Redmi Notes 9S instead we have a custom ROM based on StatiXOS 4. Unlike other ROMs this one presents some criticalities and therefore it is recommended to wait for the next build before installing it. In particular there are problems with the Volta and proximity sensor, in addition to a problem of overheating when the device is charging. Same speech as before: it is one recovery so you need to unlock the bootloader and flash the ROM.
The Xiaomitoday.it team is released from any liability in case of damage to the device as a result of modding operations
