The long-awaited update Android 15 is about to make its official debut on Google Pixel devices. Although the release on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) took place on September 3, users will have to wait until 15 October (according to Android Headlines) to finally get your hands on the new version of the operating system. Even if Some Xiaomi devices can already use it.
Android 15: Official Release Date Revealed
The choice of October 15th as the release date is not accidental: the previous day, in fact, in the United States, the Columbus Day, a national holiday that could have interfered with the regular distribution process. However, it is important to note that any last-minute bugs or issues could still impact the roadmap, although at the moment everything seems to be proceeding according to plan.
The Android 15 update will be available for Pixel devices starting with the 6 series, marking a turning point for Google: it is in fact the first update reserved exclusively for devices equipped with the Tensor chip, proprietary processor from the Mountain View company. For Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro owners, however, this could be the last major update guaranteed, although they will continue to receive security patches until 2026.
But why a delay so significant in the release of Android 15? The answer lies in the multiple deadlines that Google must meet, not only for AOSP and its partners, but also for its own devices. This year in particular, the anticipated announcement of the new Pixels in August, rather than in October as usual, has significantly complicated the process.
There are those who speculate that the extra time dedicated to the development of Android 15 could translate into a Smoother and bug-free launch compared to previous versions. After all, some of the past launches in conjunction with the new Pixels have proven to be quite problematic, such as the Pixel 6 in 2020, which was plagued by over 150 bugs that took months of work to resolve.
