In recent months, Xiaomi has released a series of updates for most of its recently-released devices as well as those already outdated. MIUI 9 despite this is still under development but the company is already working on what will be the new interface of its devices, the MIUI 10 that maybe will see the light by the end of this year. Unfortunately, the basic operating system is still Android Nougat (some devices are still in Marshmallow) e the only smartphone to be equipped with Android Oreo turns out to be the Xiaomi Mi A1, even if the bugs that have plagued the update to the Big G OS have been remarkable and have hindered the various update stages.
Actually, it's been a while since a while beta program for Mi 6 and Mi Mix 2 devices, but apparently it seems that the company's intention is to bring Android Oreo also on the glorious Mi 5 and the Mi Mix concept phone. This statement derives from what reported by XDA Developers, a portal that recently seems to have started a series of official firmware files for various Xiaomi devices including the future Mi Mix 2S, Mi 7 and Mi Max 3.
YET ONCE XDA PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT XIAOMI DEVICES
As for the other firmware, the source seems to be that of the user @funkyHuawei, who has precisely exclusively released the file to XDA but unlike previous releases this time did not present any photographic evidence. Then we can not be certain that Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi Mix will receive the Oreo update, but for sure there is a test on the two smartphones so that codenames used are Gemini and Litio.
While this may be good news, on the other it is conceivable that the update may never be released because Xiaomi could simply evaluate its potential and decide later not to release it. In fact it could also make sense that decision because MIUI 10 or MIUI X, whatever the name, will be based on Android Oreo.
