Here's Xiaomi's Car Release Plan for 2025 (And How It Compares to Tesla)

Xiaomi Cars has distinguished itself in the highly competitive electric car market, recording remarkable results. In 2024, annual sales exceeded 135.000 units, and deliveries exceeded 20.000 units for three consecutive months. With the support of its first SUV, Xiaomi Auto's goal for 2025 is to reach 300.000 units. Chinese people's passion for SUVs is deep-rooted, and with the success of the SU7 sedan, there are good reasons to believe that the SUV YU7 Xiaomi will create new miracles.

Here's Xiaomi's Car Release Plan for 2025

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: Scheduled to launch in the first quarter of this year, the SU7 Ultra will be equipped with the same V8 + V6 dual-motor three-wheel drive system as the prototype car. Power output will reach 1548 horsepower, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 1,98 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 5,86 seconds. The car will have a CLTC range of 620 km, an energy consumption of 16,5 kWh/100 km, and a top speed of over 350 km/h. These numbers make it one of the most powerful electric cars on the market.

Xiaomi YU7: Scheduled to launch in the third quarter of this year, the YU7 is a mid-size electric coupe SUV. With a length of 4999 mm, a width of 1996 mm, and a height of 1600 mm, and a wheelbase of 3000 mm, the YU7 offers a strong sense of sportiness. The Xiaomi Phase II factory will only go into production in July next year, so the YU7 is awaiting the factory's progress.

Xiaomi Long-Range SUV: With the internal codename “Kunlun“, this SUV is scheduled to debut in the fourth quarter of this year. It will be equipped with a rear-wheel steering system and will use a long-range engine. The starting price is expected to be around 150.000 yuan (about 20.000 euros).

Competition with Tesla and market challenges

Tesla is the undisputed leader in the field of pure electric vehicles. In 2024, Tesla's sales exceeded 657.000 units in China, an annual increase of 8,8%. Model Y, despite the lack of modification for a long time, continues to sell between 40.000 and 50.000 units per month. In December 2024, Tesla's domestic sales reached 83.000 units, an increase of 12,8% compared to the previous month.

Tesla Model Y: Scheduled for delivery late in the first quarter of this year, the Model Y will adopt a simpler, sharper design. Rear passengers will enjoy heated seats and extended cushions, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen. Battery capacity will be significantly improved, with a CLTC pure electric range of 719 miles (11,9 km) and a total energy consumption of XNUMX Wh/km.

Tesla Cybertruck: Scheduled to launch in China in the second quarter of this year, the Cybertruck will be optimized to Chinese safety standards to meet pedestrian protection requirements. It will have a range of 618 km and three motors with outputs of 206 kW, 222 kW and 222 kW respectively.

Tesla Model Q: Expected to be released in the fourth quarter of this year, the Model Q will be built on Tesla’s next-generation platform, resulting in a 50% reduction in costs. It will be 30% lighter than the Model 3 and have a 25% smaller battery. The Model Q is rumored to sell for just 140.000 yuan (about $18.500) when produced in China.

Tesla FSD: Tesla will launch FSD autonomous driving system in China in 2025. In the United States, FSD has already achieved end-to-end intelligent driving and automatic assist from stop to stop. Once introduced in China, there will be a short period of data accumulation, but with the large number of Tesla users, this process will be rapid.

So it seems that the only competitor that can challenge Tesla in the pure electric vehicle field is Xiaomi Motor. However, due to limited production capacity, Xiaomi cannot support two models to create new sales records at the same time. So Tesla will continue to dominate the pure electric vehicle market in 2025, but the competition with Xiaomi will certainly be an exciting challenge to watch.
