Best buy under the 200 euro: Xiaomi RedMi Note 4X vs. Meizu M5 Note vs Honor 6X

Will Xiaomi RedMi Note 4X to beat Meizu M5 Notes e Honor 6X? Considered by all the best-buy below the 200 euroWhich Smartphone Will Cave Better?

Will the last born really be the best? Obviously we are not talking about top of the range, yet one of them stands out for a series of features that make it almost a top of the range. Let's see which one!

1

Appearance and materials

RedMi Note 4X fully reflects the attention to detail sought by Xiaomi also on his RedMi series. As you well know, the Chinese company has made great strides in the stylistic field and managed to get amazing results even on mid-range smartphones.

RedMi Note 4X is perhaps the most obvious example of this change of strategy, as you can see yourself from these images:

Making a quick comparison with Meizu M5 Notes, a difference now emerges: RedMi Note 4X has the fingerprint scanner on the back, while the Meizu on the front.

Thrillingly, they had inverted the choices regarding the position of the fingerprint sensor, probably they would have earned both of us in aesthetics.
But this is a personal opinion and the purists of Xiaomi and Meizu will disagree.

A slightly different speech for Honor 6X that, although the back is very similar to the Meizu M5 Note, the front side leaves the idea to the user that it is a step backwards. Let me explain: when you look at the screen, although the differences with M5 Note are not so marked, you have the feeling of having in your hands a device of a certain "seniority" because of the frames that are very reminiscent of smartphones a few years ago does.

Among the three, for the appearance, I would avoid Honor 6X but I honestly can not choose between Xiaomi and Meizu. Let's see if the next tests will allow us to decree a winner!

  • RAM memory from 3GB;

Meizu M5 Notes

  • FULL HD display from 5,5 ";
  • SoC MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core (4 x 1.8GHz + 4 x 1.1GHz);
  • Mali T860MP2 GPU;

  • rear camera with Samsung sensor from 13 Mpx f / 2.2;
  • front camera from 5 Mpx;
  • battery from 4000 mAh;
  • FlymeOS with Android MM

Too bad for the processor that does not do justice to the design and the attention shown by Meizu for the multimedia aspect. A SoC from the P series of MediaTek Helio does not guarantee great performance on a mid-range smartphone and, indeed, would have been more appropriate on board a low-end.

Small negative note on the rear camera is also the opening: f / 2.2 means having to have the hand absolutely still to avoid bad night photos.

Honor 6X

  • FULL HD display from 5,5 ";
  • Kirin 655 octa-core SoC (4 x 2.1GHz + 4 x 1.5GHz);
  • Mali T830MP2 GPU;
  • RAM memory from 3GB;
  • Expandable 32GB internal memory;
  • rear cameras with Sony Exmor sensor from 12 and 2 Mpx (f / 2.2);
  • front camera from 8 Mpx;
  • battery from 3340 mAh;
  • EMUI 4.1 with Android MM

You will all have noticed the extreme difference in terms of battery capacity. But this does not mean that autonomy on Honor 6X is the critical point, indeed! The Kirin 655 processor, in fact, especially when compared with Helio P10 on board Meizu M5 Note, guarantees almost the same performance and, of course, Honor will have as its point the lesser weight.

The cameras of Honor 6X are really the strong point of this phone and deserves to be cited the attention put on the field by the company to create an excellent device under the photographic aspect despite not being born as a corporate flagship!

Excellent work then by Huawei / Honor, even if the absence of the gyroscope really does not explain!

Result? Also this time I would not know what to choose between Honor and Xiaomi, but I would definitely avoid Meizu because it has its only audio compartment.

Performance and autonomy

As far as the benchmarks leave the time they find, they remain a valid yet initial comparison criterion. So here are the results of the three devices compared:

As it was reasonable to imagine, on paper the performance does not correspond to those analyzed by benchmark, but since the tests carried out on AnTuTu would confirm what we can define a "ranking" of the three smartphones, I report:

Consistent with what emerged from the tests, the RedMi Note 4X takes full advantage of its SoC Snadpragon, achieving noteworthy performance compared to Meizu's HMIO P10 M5 Note and not moving away too much from the Honor 6X card and its Kirin 655.

I do not go too far, but know it Snapdragon 625 proves to be even higher than his old relative, the SD 810 that, for what was born for the top of the range, had a sore overheating. Nothing to do with SD 625 that, thanks to its 8 cores to 2GHz allows to achieve very high read and write speed, preventing hardware from overheating and ensuring excellent performance. If you would like to deepen, here are the results of the test:

Even the RedMi Note 4X gaming side does not disappoint at all and the GPU guarantees the 46.7 fps during Epic Citadel, a game that is sufficiently heavy on a graphic level.

Think that the Meizu M5 Note stopped at just 33,7 fps, however, with a sharp increase in temperature after just 5-10 minutes of play and, above all, a drastic drop in autonomy! In short, if you want a smartphone to use for gaming, avoid the Meizu: standard screen hours, mainly due to battery capacity more than processor balance, are based on 7 / 8 hours, but they have to be reduced to 4 in use case for gaming. We are not.

Meizu totally not recommended? Well, not in all but out of the three I wouldn't recommend it. In fact, consider that we also found a certain slowness in the GPS fix.

In the image above you can enjoy - yes, enjoy - the reading and writing speeds of Huawei's Kirin 655, mounted on Honor 6X. The opening of the apps and games on the device in question will be the fastest among the three smartphones.

"Then the gaming performance will be the best!" You're thinking ... in reality it is not like that: Snapdragon 625, in fact, ensures a better playability even as guaranteed Kirin 655 is not to be denigrated. The fps achieved with Epic Citadel on Honor 6X settle on 45,4 even if the game does not run in FULL HD but 1808 x 1080.

Result of this test? Leave it again to lose Meizu M5 Note! Honor 6X and RedMi Note 4X are at least a couple of spans above and, if you are interested in gaming, choose Xiaomi to guarantee a better gaming experience.

Camera

We arrived at the last test, before giving you the name of what we think is the winner.

For that matter, I'll leave some photos taken with each phone and tell you what I think in the end.

Xiaomi RedMi Note 4X

Meizu M5 Notes

Honor 6X

I can immediately say that the shots taken during the day in good light conditions are equivalent and for the average user all three smartphones are acceptable without distinction. Perhaps the photos taken with the M5 Note are in a bit more colorful and those of the Honor 6X are in a bit less defined.

Honor 6X which, however, makes excuses with the Macro shots: excellent bokeh effect and blurring of the subjects in the background, probably also thanks to software optimization that allows you to take full advantage of the dual camera.

But I was surprised at how the RedMi Note 4X rendered night-time photos. I did not expect it, I admit it!
The Xiaomi RedMi series does not have a handsome camera side but with this device it has reached a very high level. As you can see from the samples, in fact, the noise on close subjects and with some well-marked light sources is almost zeroed. You can not say the same thing, for example, for Meizu whose shots are deeply noisy and kneaded.

History for Honor, which in my opinion is more like a smartphone whose camera has been designed to target mid-range competition for macros. It has no rivals in comparison to three and probably even with other mid-range.

Here the choice is subjective: if you are passionate about food shots or close subjects, choose Honor, but if you want to take a nice picture of a landscape, you will be forced to change the phone! RedMi Note 4X is the wisest choice in this case.

The winner of this comparison is ..........

You will think that we are part of it, but in fact RedMi Note 4X it differs considerably from the RedMi series as far as its name is concerned. It is a device clearly top and from very good value for money. Less than the 200 Euro for such a device, looked after in all respects and leaving nothing to the point, they are really a great price and a real deal!

If you are thinking of buying a smartphone and you need autonomy, performance, good photos and why not even some longevity, do not think twice about why Xiaomi really did this really and probably, RedMi Note 4X it will also blur some top of the range!

Too bad that not all 4X Note mounts the Sony camera .. Unfortunately it is now produced with Samsung.

We also made a small survey on the group and those with Sony seem unobtainable. However, I do not see much difference from the samples.

And that's good… at least there isn't an abyss.
