We have already examined several audio solutions from the Tribit brand, of which we have always appreciated the excellent construction and audio quality, but everything can be improved and with the new StormBox 2 the company confirms this. With this new product we can experience an immersive 360-degree surround sound experience, without losing the ability to manage calls, but above all we can animate parties with friends by the pool and unleash the desire to dance thanks to a power of 34W. I will not give any further spoilers but I will tell you everything about Tribit StormBox 2 in this review.

TOP-IN-CLASS AUDIO QUALITY
As already mentioned, one of the strengths of the new portable speaker of the StormBox series is the 360-degree sound delivery, thus allowing music listening with volume equality in any direction. The peak power reaches 34 watts (2 x 17W), through two 48mm full range speakers with a dynamic frequency response of 70 Hz – 20 KHz and a frequency band of 2402 -2480 MHz. As for the low tones, these are improved by the presence of two passive radiators arranged laterally in addition to the support of the proprietary XBass technology, designed to enhance bass reproduction with the simple touch of a button.

The arrangement of the two full-range speakers allows the sound to be distributed evenly in all directions. This ensures that every listener, regardless of their position, has an equal listening experience. Speaking of listening experience, this is pure enjoyment with a very high-quality, clear sound and enveloping bass.

SOLID AND WITH INFINITE AUTONOMY
Tribit StormBox 2 is built with plastic materials coated with a rubberized surface which makes it perfect for outdoor use, ideal for poolside parties or outdoor walks even in the rain, counting on an IPX7 certification. I have defined this speaker as portable, even if the dimensions of 180 x 69 x 69 mm and the weight of 698 grams seem to say the opposite, but thanks to the loop anchored in the upper part of the product, we can easily attach the speaker to backpacks or other support elements.

In the lower part we still find 4 non-slip silicone feet that ensure stability to the speaker when positioned upright. Pleasant in appearance, we find a large mesh covering the drivers, in which the music and call management buttons are located. We can control the volume, using the appropriate + and – buttons or with the central one we can manage more functions, such as play/pause, skip the music track, call the voice assistant of our smartphone/tablet but also answer, reject and hang up a call.

In fact, our Tribit StormBox 2 can also handle calls, with incredible quality. In this regard, we have a Bluetooth 5.3 that guarantees excellent connection stability to devices, as well as an open field range of up to 45 meters but above all it allows you to pair the speaker with two devices at the same time, for example to listen to music on one and answer calls on the other device. We can also pair two StormBox 2 to obtain a stereo connection.

On the back of the product we find the power buttons, Bluetooth connection, audio mode and indeed stereo mode, but also USB-C charging input and AUX input for external connection of analog audio sources, all protected by a silicone door to protect against liquids and dust, but I reiterate the presence of the IPX7 certification, meaning it can be immersed in water up to 1 meter deep for a maximum of 30 minutes.

Thanks to RunStretch technology, the Tribit StormBox 2 offers an impressive playback time of up to 24 hours (at 60/70% volume). This means we can party all day long, even at high volume. This is made possible by efficient energy management and the presence of a large 2600 mAh dual-cell battery that recharges in 4 hours. This is especially practical for outdoor activities, travel or events where there is no charging option.

The Tribit StormBox 2 supports A2DP, AVRCP, HFP and HSP Bluetooth protocols and AAC and SBC codecs. This means that Apple users can stream their music to the StormBox 2 in the standard Apple logo format without any audio reduction conversion, while Android and Windows users have to settle for the standard SBC codec instead of enjoying the higher quality aptX. However, this is not a real problem as the audio quality achieved by the product is truly premium.

COMPANION APP ALSO AVAILABLE
The Tribit StormBox 2 is supported by the Tribit app, available for both Android and iOS systems. Through the app we can update the firmware but above all we can draw on audio presets or create a 7-band equalization curve based on our listening taste. We can also set an automatic shutdown timer and decide which audio preset to associate with the XBass button, for example the one dedicated to audiobooks.

AUDIO QUALITY
After connecting the StormBox 2 to my smartphone and pairing it with the Tribit app, I was literally amazed by the bass. The listening volume is much more generous than one would expect but without distorting, enjoying a good balance in the mid-high range. Voices can be heard with a fair degree of naturalness. Thanks to the 360-degree dispersion, the treble sounds clear both from the back of the Bluetooth speaker and from the front. Even without the switchable bass boost, the beats come out of the small speaker with a rich and delineated sound. We are not talking about a product aimed at expert audiophiles but the Tribit solution impresses with its clear and well-balanced sonic signature in every musical genre.

CONCLUSIONS AND PRICE
Compared to solutions that cost twice as much, the Tribit StormBox 2 stands out in a bold way, offering audio quality both when listening to music and when making calls. Considering the selling price of around 60 euros, redeeming the discount coupon on the Amazon purchase page, this speaker can be considered the best around for livening up barbecues, parties or simply listening to music on a rainy day. Powerful, exaggerated autonomy and other goodies such as the connection to two devices at the same time make me lean towards a promotion with honors.
