BLITZHOME CM5520 FUNCTIONS
The functions of our BLITZHOME CM5520 There are essentially 4: espresso coffee using ground coffee, cold coffee, milk frother, and coffee grinder. Let's start from the beginning: first fill the rear tank with water, it holds a good 1.8L! Then plug it in and press the power button present on the large touchscreen display. Be careful, the buttons may seem to work poorly, but you just have to find a way to press them. For example, use a flat thumb and you'll see that there won't be any problems. To be clear, don't use a straight index finger, as this might prevent the buttons from working. There are 6 buttons on the display:
- Power button: turns the machine on/off
- Espresso Heating: press to activate the machine and heat the water.
- Espresso 1-2 button: Press once, the 1 light will illuminate and one cup will be dispensed. Press twice and two cups will be dispensed.
- Steam button: to enter milk frothing mode
- Grind button: to enter the coffee grinder mode
- Cool button: to make cold coffee
Once turned on, the CM5220 must be preheated to be ready to provide excellent coffee. This function is enabled by pressing the "espresso heating“At this point, under the thermometer icon, the LED strip indicating the temperature will fill up. When it reaches the end, click OK and we can make our coffee.
ESPRESSO COFFEE
To make coffee, simply insert the chosen filter (one or two cups) into the arm, the right amount of coffee, fix it by rotating it from left to right and press the “All espresso brewing methods“. To get the right amount for a cup, just press once, to have double the quantity press twiceBy pressing twice, you can also make a double coffee, leaving only one cup underneath. Those who want a classic espresso should attach the single-cup filter and press once. If you want to adjust the amount of coffee yourself, in both solutions, simply press the espresso symbol a second time and the coffee will be dispensed. As you can see, there's complete freedom of choice. We'll also have the option of making a coffee freddoIn this case we will have to disable the heating of the machine using the “espresso heating” button, if we had previously selected it, and the “cool espresso“At this point, all we have to do is press and voilà, a fantastic and delicious iced coffee! If you want to complete the “recipe,” you can add an ice cube.
Milk frother
Our CM5520 also lets you enjoy a delicious cappuccino! You can even froth milk using the dedicated steam wand on the right. To activate it, simply point it over the cup containing the milk, press the "steam" button, and turn it on using the knob on the right. Please note: to activate the "steam" button, you must first press the "espresso heating" button. This way, you can also enjoy a delicious cappuccino or hot drink. To move and direct it within your cup, you'll need a small silicone grip, as the wand's temperature will be very high and you could burn yourself. Now, you're done. Pressing the steam symbol will obviously disable the coffee-making function (you'll see the icons disappear). To return to standard mode, simply press the steam button again.
Coffee grinder
We also have the option of always enjoying very fresh coffee because our BlitzHome CM5520 allows us to grind coffee beans thanks to a second-generation grinder, 35% more efficient than previous generations. I had honestly never tried grinding them before, and I must say it makes the coffee taste better. In fact, now I no longer buy ground coffee but whole beans, so I can enjoy the taste of freshly ground coffee! To grind, simply place the beans in the container on top of the machine, turn it on, and press the grind button. On the left, there is a knob that allows us to select the size of the ground coffee. The scale goes from 1 to 20, where 1 stands for very fine (slow operation) and 20 for coarse (fast operation). Experts say that a finer grind imparts better flavor to the blend as there will be more surface area in contact with the water. My advice is to try different grind sizes to see how you prefer it. The size adjustment knob doesn't seem very well made, so I recommend being careful how you handle it. To collect the coffee grounds, you can place a cup or the arm underneath and the supplied metal funnel on top, which will convey the grounds directly into the filter.
I have to clarify a couple of things: the ground amount, in my opinion, is perfect for a large cup. So if you plan to grind your coffee, I recommend using the two-cup filter, otherwise you risk spilling it. Of course, once you've ground it, you can decide how much to leave in the filter based on your taste. You can also grind a larger amount of coffee and store it in the traditional container, but I'd say that's a shame if you can grind it on the fly. Coffee made with freshly ground beans actually has a more intense aroma. Try it and believe it!
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance is simple, all you need to do is:
- Detach and wash the water container frequently
- Keep the area where the arm is located clean. If it gets too dirty, the machine may not work.
- Clean the filter in the arm by washing it under running water
- Keep the second grid that collects the coffee residue clean by detaching and washing it (the red indicator will tell us when it is time to do so).
FINAL CONSIDERATIONS
To make a final assessment, it's essential to weigh the product's quality against its price. As for the quality of the device, I think I can say it's definitely very good. The main thing, the coffee, comes out really good and creamy, almost as good as the coffee made at the bar with machines costing thousands of euros. Additionally, here we can froth milk for cappuccino, warm drinks, grind coffee beans, and even make cold coffee.
