I'm not crazy, but as in football a good fan knows how to recognize the talent of another team, we at XiaomiToday.it also know how to appreciate when a company, called the Xiaomi of Spain, knows how to assert itself in a market that, above all in Europe, is losing more and more shares. Let's talk about BQ that for some time is being appreciated for its smartphones characterized by good quality / price ratio and for the constant updates it releases to its devices.
We had the pleasure to try their penultimate top of the range, the model Aquaris X Pro, and always recently we have been able to try with the hand also the mid range best buy category, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 that until now I think it has no rivals. But apparently BQ is releasing two new smartphones called Aquaris X2 and X2 Pro that share a lot with our Xiaomi house jewel.
BQ Aquaris X2 / X2 Pro Specifications
At the data sheet level BQ Aquaris X2 is equipped with a IPS FHD + display from 5,65 inch with rather thin frames both in the upper and the lower part thanks to a form factor in 18: 9 and characterized by a 2.5D machining with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and IP52 certification. The processor takes care of the Aquaris X2 Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, GPU Adreno 509, 3 / 4 GB of RAM with 32 / 64 GB of storage internal available, expandable up to 256 GB via micro SD giving up the Dual SIM function. And speaking of connectivity we find a module 4G + with 20 band support, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual band WiFi, NFC and GPS. Also the design resembles Redmi Note 5, which certainly does not enjoy the exclusive, as the back is made of anodized aluminum that houses the sensor for fingerprints and a dual camera with so-called "traffic light" design.
Double module from 12 MP + 5 MP composed of sensors Samsung S5K2L8 (main module) with opening f/ 1.8 1,29 nm / pixel and S5K5E8 (sub-module). 6 lenses Largan, Focus Dual PDAF, Vidhance video stabilization, slow motion [Email protected], shot in RAW format, videos in 4K at 30 fps and many other features including portrait mode. Frontally we find a selfie camera from 8 MP sensor Samsung S5K4H7 aperture f / 2.0 1,12nm / pixel to 4 lenses with the possibility also of the bokeh effect. Finally we find a stereo sound and a battery from 3100 mAh with Quick Charge 4.0 quick charging support through the door Type-C, completes the framework of the specifications that at the software level instead offer system Android 8.1.0 Oreo linked to the Android One project.
The BQ Aquaris X2 Pro variant offers a Snapdragon 660 processor, GPU Adreno 512, 4 / 6 GB of RAM and memory with expandable 64 or 128 GB cuts. The rest remains unchanged. Both models will offer the functionality of Google Lens. In addition, the application of the renewed BQ camera (of own development) will include new features such as Play Photos, integrated filters and zoom 10X.
In short, the top of the range of BQ in some respects they look really like twins to our Redmi Note 5of course the Aquaris X2 model is the closest at the hardware level, for other aspects at least on paper they seem better. But in the end the best judge remains the price for that Bq Aquaris X2 will start from 309,90 euro while for X2 Pro we will touch the 389,90 euro. However we can't wait to be able to test it with our hands and see if the price gap is justified or if Redmi Note 5 will continue to dominate the mid-range range.
