Compare Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 vs Oppo Find X vs Honor Magic 2

Yesterday the third rival finally came out, along with theOppo Find X, of the brand new Mi Mix 3 presented last 25 October: we are talking aboutHonor Magic 2. We will then make a comparison between the three devices, which are common (perhaps for challenge, perhaps for fashion) for the presence of the sliding mechanism but that under the body are very different from each other. Let's say before that the comparison is not about performance because we do not yet have any data to describe those of Honor, but only on hardware, software and aesthetics.

Dimensions and weight

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: 157.9 x 74.7 x 8.5 mm for 218 g;
  • Oppo Find X: 156.7 x 74.2 x 9.6 mm for 186 g;
  • Honor Magic 2: 157.3 x 75.1 x 8.3 mm for 206 g.

As we see, ours Mi Mix 3 almost with the same size, it turns out to be the heavier with 12 g more than the Magic 2 and well 32 g compared to Find X; all this because of the sliding mechanism equipped by the device that did not allow to contain the measurements and therefore the weight. About the mechanism, while the Find X comes with an automatic scroll that I like to define "pocket", the other two are equipped with a manual mechanism that allows the back of the device to stand up compared to the part of the screen. Moreover, Oppo and Xiaomi stated that 300.000 are the secured opening / closing cycles; Honor still has not communicated anything to us.

Display

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: 6.39 '', 1080 x 2340p (Full HD +), Super AMOLED;
  • Oppo Find X: 6.42 '', 1080 x 2340p (Full HD +), AMOLED;
  • Honor Magic 2: 6.39 '', 1080 x 2340p (Full HD +), AMOLED.

All three are borderless devices, with different body screen ratios: from 93.6% of Mi 3 Mix, 93.8% of Find X to 91.5% of Magic 2. Although a bit, the display size of the 3 Mi Mix is smaller. The substantial difference lies in the technology below the display: the Mi Mix 3 is the only one equipped with the Super AMOLED that, unlike AMOLED, offers greater brightness especially under the sun and less battery consumption.

Processor

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, octa-core 2.8 GHz;
  • Oppo Find X: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, octa-core 2.8 GHz;
  • Honor Magic 2: Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 980, octa-core 2.6 GHz.

While Mi Mix 2 and Find X are equipped with the same SoC, the Magic 2 comes with the brand new Kirin 980. During the presentation of the latter device a comparison was made between the two processors: during a PUBG session the fps given by Kirin, the first to be built at 7 nm, are 60 while those of the Snapdragon, at 10 nm, are 41 . We also know that the CPU of both processors is formed by 8 core: for the Kirin are 2 Cortex-A76 to 2.6GHz, 2 Cortex-A76 to 1.92GHz e 4 Cortex-A55 to 1.8GHz while for the Snapdragon they are 4 Kryo 835 (Cortex-A75) to 2.8GHz e 4 Kryo 835 (Cortex-A55) to 1.7GHz: all this translates into a potential increase of 37% of the performances compared to the 845. The GPU instead is one Mali-G76 MP10 vs one Adreno 630.

Software

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: Android 9 Pie, MIUI 10;
  • Oppo Find X: Android 8.1 Oreo, ColorOS 5.1;
  • Honor Magic 2: Android 9 Pie, EMUI 9.

It will be for the software coupled to 10GB of RAM but I would say that among the three devices the Mi Mix wins the comparison. Let's just say that in this context the optimization of the devices will be able to say with certainty which of the three is superior to the others (if there will be one higher).

Camera

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: dual rear camera 12 + 12 megapixel, f / 1.8 e dual camera selfie 24 + 2 megapixel;
  • Oppo Find X: dual 16 + 20 megapixel rear camera, f / 2.0 + f / 2.2 e selfie camera 25 megapixel, f / 2.0;
  • Honor Magic 2: triple rear camera 16 + 16 + 24 megapixel, f / 1.8 and f / 2.2 e triple camera selfie 16 + 2 + 2 megapixel f / 2.0, f / 2.4 and f / 2.4

In this respect, on paper, he no doubt wins the Honor Magic 2; say on paper because as for the software side we must see how optimized the camera for the device.

Battery

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: 3200 mAh, ultra fast charging 4.0 + Quick Charge and wireless charging;
  • Oppo Find X: 3730 mAh, flash charging to 5V and 4A;
  • Honor Magic 2: 3500 mAh, Quick Charge Magic Charge to 40W.

The Oppo wins this battle with low hands. Unfortunately Xiaomi, if not for the Black Shark, has never given much attention to the capacity of the battery. Despite the Quick Charge 4.0 + charge, you could stay dry during the day. Here too we await the proven trials of users.

Conference proceedings

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: 6 GB RAM, 128 GB / 8 GB RAM, 128 GB / 8 GB RAM, 256 GB / 10 GB RAM, 512 GB;
  • Oppo Find X: 8 GB RAM, 256 GB;
  • Honor Magic 2: 6 GB RAM, 128 GB / 8 GB RAM, 128 GB / 8 GB RAM, 256 GB with possibility of expansion via micro SD.

Here except for the Oppo Find X we have a great variety regarding the cuts. There is only one choice but for all three it is of type LP LPDDR4X.

Price

  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3: from € 420 to € 620 based on denominations;
  • Oppo Find X: 999 €;
  • Honor Magic 2: from € 480 to € 730 based on denominations
