Fitbit launches a gaming smartwatch, but this time for the little ones

After announcing the news in the AI ​​field, Fitbit has not lost the habit of bringing new products to the market. The last one is Fitbit Ace LTE, a very particular device since it is intended for aniche user: little ones who like to play. Based on the Wear OS platform, this smartwatch aims to turn fitness into a game, aimed at children aged 7 and up, while offering useful features for parents too.

Official Fitbit Ace LTE: specifications and price

The Fitbit Ace LTE shares many of the technical specifications of the pixel watch 2 by Google. Among these, we find the Snapdragon W5/Qualcomm 5100 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. The device is equipped with a microphone, screen AMOLED and robust protection from water up to 5 ATM. In terms of connectivity, it supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 5.0, NFC e GPS.

While it maintains some sensors such as the optical one, the accelerometer, the gyroscope, the altimeter, the magnetometer and the ambient light sensor, the Fitbit Ace LTE does not include advanced health sensors such as ECG, not necessary for children.

Play is central to the Fitbit Ace LTE, with built-in games that encourage children to be physically active. A virtual character called Eejie, similar to the Tamagotchi, offers a gaming experience where children can earn and spend "tickets" for customize the mascot completing physical activity goals.

Parents can set time limits for play with the School Time feature and monitor their child's activities via thefitbit app, available for both Android and iOS. The watch also allows you to send messages and calls to approved contacts, up to a maximum of 20, and allows parents to track the location of their children, with i data that is deleted after 24 hours.

The price of Fitbit Ace LTE is $229.95 at launch. We don't know when and if the smartwatch will also debut in Europe and Italy.
