The Pixel 7 Pro benchmark reveals the Tensor G2 specs

Google Pixel 7 Pro it will be the next top of the range of the technology giant. As anticipated a long time ago, the processor that will equip this device is the Google Tensor G2, successor to the G1 that debuted with the previous model. But what properties and potential does this SoC have? One Polish developer revealed the numbers behind the processor:

We finally know something official about Google Tensor G2, the processor of the next top of the range Google Pixel 7 Pro. Here are the details

Google Pixel 7 Pro test results on Geekbench have surfaced online. The benchmark has, of course, provided the characteristics of the smartphone processor: according to an internal "decryption" of this data, the chip Tensor G2 is based on old cores, but it will still be faster than its predecessor on the Pixel 6a. Judging by the test results, the Google Tensor G2 SoC architecture includes eight core arranged according to the "2 + 2 + 4" scheme.

According to network sources, we are talking about a couple of Cortex-X1 big, two Cortex-A76 productive and four Cortex-A55 energy efficient. But the chip, according to insiders, will not be a copy of its predecessor: the company will bring some modifications to its specifications.

In particular, the source reports having overclocked 76 MHz A100 cores (up to 2.35 GHz) and X1 cores from 50 MHz to (2.85 GHz). According to the benchmark data, this increased processor performance by 10% in multi-core tests. In addition, the transition from a 5nm process to a thinner 4nm process, which is expected to reduce the energy consumption of the mobile platform.

The modification of the graphics integrated in the SoC is also reported: the Mali-G78 MP20 will be replaced by the Mali-G710, which will give an increase in performance of up to 20% with a similar decrease in energy consumption. Finally, the new modem is attributed to the Pixel 7 Pro Samsung S5300 and coprocessor Jaineiro for AI acceleration.
