Google anticipates the developers conference and unexpectedly launches the Pixel 8a in Italy along with the highly anticipated Pixel Tablet. Google took everyone by surprise by unveiling the Pixel 8a ahead of its highly anticipated developer conference. This new model is a direct competitor to its predecessor, the Pixel 8, available at the same price. Despite being the most “modest” of the 8 series, it tries to attract users with a series of technical specifications very interesting.
The Pixel 8a is rather a successor to the Pixel 7a, adopting one OLED screen from 6.1 inches, slightly smaller than the Pixel 8, but with an impressive brightness of 2000 nits and a capacity of refresh at 120 Hz. It is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3, confirming Google's dedication to durability.
Under the hood, the Pixel 8a sports the same Tensor G3 processor of the Pixel 8, supported by 8 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and offered with options of 128 or 256 GB internal memory UFS 3.1. The 4500 mAh battery ensures long hours of use, with the advantage of fast charging both via cable and wirelessly. Google's focus on sustainability is evident in the 100% recycled aluminum body, with protection IP67.
The most notable differences are observed in the camera compartment. While features remain consistent with the higher-end offering, such asUltra HDR and artificial intelligence options like the magic eraser, the main sensor is now from 64 megapixel and the ultra-wide one from 13 megapixel, both with smaller pixels than the previous model.
Price and availability
The Google Pixel 8a was launched on the Italian market with a list price of €549, exactly the same as its predecessor, the Pixel 8. To make the purchase more attractive, Google and its commercial partners have organized a series of launch promotions. For example, at Unieuro, the Pixel 8a will be available from 14 May and you will be able to benefit from a trade-in offer that adds an additional value of €150.
Amazon and Vodafone also participate with similar promotions, encouraging users to pre-order and purchase in advance with bonuses and extra ratings on used devices. Furthermore, from the end of May, Amazon will offer €100 vouchers usable for the purchase of other products in the Pixel ecosystem
