Corning has unveiled a new type of protective glass for mid-range smartphone displays, four years later Gorilla Glass Victus 2 debuts. Baptized Gorilla Glass 7i, this material was presented by the developers, who illustrated what users can expect. The most interesting news is that its low cost will allow it to be integrated into smartphone planet gamma.
Official Gorilla Glass 7i: indestructible mid-range screen
Among the main features of Gorilla Glass 7i is its ability to withstand falls from a maximum height of one meter on floors such as asphalt and similar surfaces. In 2016, when Gorilla Glass 5 was launched, Corning announced that the glass could withstand drops from 1.6 meters high.
Anticipating questions from bystanders, the technicians clarified that the more compact dimensions of the screens and the lower weight of the phones of that period make a direct comparison between different generations of the product is inappropriate. It's worth mentioning that Corning has made great strides with the Gorilla Armor technology.

Regarding the absence of model number 6 in the line, company spokespersons explained that the new solution is closer in its characteristics to the models of the seventh Victus series. The abbreviation “i” indicates the intermediate location of this coating, positioned between Gorilla Glass 5 and the flagship range currently present on the top of the range.
But now the most important question of all: who will use Gorilla Glass 7i? According to information provided by Corning, Oppo will be the first company to integrate this panel on its smartphones. For now the names of the models are unknown, but as mentioned these will be mid-range devices and probably the next one series Reindeer will be the most eligible for this record.
