Thanks to the many offers that we often publish on the our Telegram channel maybe you took advantage of it and bought a Nescafè pod coffee machine, Genio S series. Caught up in the enthusiasm and strong in the thought, "what does it take to use a coffee machine", you threw away the packaging and manuals. After about 3/4 months, however, you find yourself with an orange light on and you don't know what it is or how to turn it off. Well, that light indicates that your coffee machine needs maintenance, and specifically descaling, while on how to turn it off follow this short guide.
On offer on Amazon
How to descale the Nescafè Dolce Gusto Krups Genio S coffee machine
First of all we need to get a descaler, not necessarily the one proposed by Nescafè, one for a few euros available on Amazon is enough. You will also need the plastic spout provided to direct the water jet, which if you have lost it you can always find it on Amazon for a few euros. You also need water to create the mixture of water and descaler, taking into account that the Dolce Gusto water tank has a capacity of about 700 ml. Finally, a basin to collect the descaled water and the rinse water.
At this point you must completely fill the Genio S tank up to the MAX mark, obviously with the descaling mixture just created. Once the tank is inserted into its seat you must rotate the dispensing dosage lever all the way down, going beyond the XL value. In practice, once you have exceeded the XL value you must continue to rotate the dosage knob until you see the descaling symbol flash.
Now we can start dispensing. The Dolce Gusto machine will start dispensing water intermittently, so not a single jet. You will have to wait until the system senses the water is empty. It is important not to push any buttons at this stage. You will understand that the stage is finished when the machine stops dispensing water because the tank is completely empty. You will find yourself with a sort of countdown, that is, you will see the green notches of the dosage, slowly going down to the last one, giving you time to refill the water tank of the coffee machine. Also in this stage, do not touch any buttons and give the machine time to move on to the next stage, the rinsing one.
The rinsing phase is indicated by the flashing of the descaling light (orange) and the dosage light (green) and specifically the third notch from the bottom (as pictured above). At this point you can push the start dispensing button, collecting the rinsing water until the tank is empty. In this case, when the Dolce Gusto machine senses the water is empty, the descaling procedure will end, turning off the appropriate light and positioning itself in the beverage dispensing mode. However, I recommend running an empty tank emptying cycle to eliminate any form of impurity or trace of descaling agent.
This guide is definitely off topic compared to what you are used to reading on the blog, but considering that there is nothing online about these home solutions, I wanted to share it with you.
