Xiaomi has decided to offer an early look at the future of its beloved operating system, showing some what's new in HyperOS 2.0. A photo shared on Xiaomi's Instagram account revealed substantial changes, suggesting a app menu similar to that of iOS. The company's plans are clear: by approaching the simplicity of Apple and its operating system it wants to offer aAndroid-based alternative and therefore open source.
HyperOS 2.0 previews the new recent apps menu
The shared photo features a new design for the recent apps menu, called “Pile Up”, which marks a departure from the traditional vertical tabbed view and horizontal list, long-standing features of MIUI. The new layout resembles the iOS Recent Apps interface, using a sleek overlap di uses recently used. The company has also proposed a survey in which it invites users to choose which option they prefer: whether the previous two already seen on HyperOS 1.0 and MIUI or whether the new one, probably arriving on HyperOs 2.0.

The other new features of HyperOS 2.0
The heart of this system will be the graphics engine Photon Engine, designed to optimize system animations making them smoother and faster, with an eye to energy saving. Transitions between apps and screens will be particularly natural, especially on devices equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors and above, which can effortlessly handle even the most complex animations.
In tandem with Photon Engine, the engine AI Hypermind 2.0 will work to balance performance and autonomy, adapting to user behavior and optimally allocating resources. L'photographic interface will undergo a complete restyling for greater intuitiveness, facilitating access to settings. Among the new advanced modes, Street Photography, Master Shooting, video recording in 4K at 60fps with Dolby Vision, rotating zoom and tripled depth of field stand out.
On the aesthetic front, Xiaomi will introduce two new dynamic wallpapers inspired by the Ocean and Desert themes. These will offer an immersive viewing experience with subtle movements that will adapt as the day changes. The quality of the user interface will be high thanks to Texture Advanced 2.0, which will make the graphic elements more detailed and refined, with a pleasant tactile sensation.
For models released after October 2024, the option Razor Plan will provide a lighter operating system, ensuring an even more optimized experience. The lock screen will allow you to group related alerts and stack widgets for a cleaner look. The control center, integrated with the notification panel, will offer a smoother and more accessible experience.
It is important to note that some improvements, such as those related to animations, will be fully exploitable only on devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors and higher.
