The Xiaomi Mi 9's wide angle beats that of the Samsung S10 [Photo Comparison]

Yesterday, day when the Xiaomi Mi 9 made his debut, it also coincided with the presentation of the new flagships from Samsung. Price apart, the new S Series and in particular the S10 amazed at the concentrate of compressed technology in just 6.1 ".

And with the Samsung S10 the Xiaomi Mi 9 shares the same technical choice of 3 sensors for the photographic sector: Main sensor + Telephoto lens + Wide angle.

  • Xiaomi Mi 9 - Wide angle 16MP FOV 117 ° with 1µ pixel and F / 2.2 focal length
  • Samsung S10 - Wide angle 16MP FOV 123 ° with focal length F / 2.2

Xiaomi has however chosen to equip its wide-angle lens of a better algorithm able to correct the inevitable deformations that the (very) curved lens produces.

We have below the shots of the same two subjects that put a discussion panel not just the goodness of the two cameras, but above all the excellent work that this algorithm is able to do.

As you can see, the Xiaomi Mi 9 shots are partially cut, not only due to the smaller angle but due to the effect of the greater correction of wide-angle deformation which is therefore able to return an image closer to reality.

Obviously, since this is a software solution, there is always the possibility that Samsung will run for cover by improving this function with an update that makes it more effective. But for now it is so and the Xiaomi Mi 9 brings home a small victory.

Um, even on Galaxy S10 it is possible to enable lens distortion reduction
