The Xiaomi Surge S2 processor could debut later this month. Mi 6C coming?

After the statements by Lei Jun, on his Weibo social profile, in which he declared thatevent to be held later this month in Shenzen many products will be released, a sort of xiaomi-bet has been unleashed in which everyone is trying to guess what products they might expect. And if, of course, the 7 / Mi 8 Mi are in pole position, there are those who also expect the release of the Mi Band 3 wait but also the new home-made processor, the Pinecone Surge S2.

For smartphone companies like Xiaomi, the only way to not depend on the chipset manufacturers is to create their own solutions, like Huawei that has installed its SoC Kirin devices on its devices. Xiaomi is ambitious and even the previous one experiment through the release of the 5C Mi equipped with Surge S1 processor did not return the desired results, now seems to have returned to take care of the sequel of this CPU, precisely the Surge S2. And considering that Xiaomi is preparing to occupy the first position in the national market, the choice not to depend on third parties is really logical, considering that the solutions offered by Qualcomm are often expensive while those offered by MediaTek are often poco performers. To suggest that the new Surge S2 processor will be released at the end of the month, the Digitimes website will take care of it, while the same news is reported on Weibo and exactly on the ARM social profile.

The Xiaomi Surge S2 processor could debut later this month. Mi 6C coming?

At the specification level the new Surge S2 is a octa-core processor with Cortex A73 architecture (four cores) and Cortex A53 (four cores) with maximum clock frequency at 2,2 GHz relative to the “bigger” cores while the smaller ones reach clocks of 1,8 GHz. At the GPU level Surge S2 will integrate the solution Mali G71, Sara supported XFS type UFS flash memory and LPDDR2.1 type RAM but no CDMA protocol support, for someone a must-have function in a smartphone. In other words, the Xiaomi chipset will compete with the current Kirin 960 from Huwaei. Based on these characteristics we understand that the Surge S2 will be destined for a mid-range smartphone, and that if the rumors about the release at the end of the month were true, we must expect a new smartphone that will presumably be called Xiaomi Mi 6C.

the truth is another
Xiaomi cannot sell phones with Mediatek chipsets in India ... Considering that Huawei does not sell its Kirin and that Samsung pays gold for its Exonys ... ... there is only the option to pay Arm for the CPU licenses and Qualcomm for licenses modem and then ask TSMC to print your chipsets for you
These more than the Kirin 960 I see them at the level of Mediatek P60
