Many believe that the elimination of the 3,5 mm earphone jack from smartphones is a really annoying technological scourge, but on the reason why this choice enlightens us the Product Manager of Xiaomi India, Jai Mani, who offers an explanation to this story through a post published on the social tweeter. The answer has come to a video published by the famous YouTuber Marques Brownlee, who in his own way has already given an account on the question emphasizing that the choice to eliminate the jack from 3,5 mm on the devices born from the search for space by companies, to offer ever thinner frames and more and more full screen displays.
The Product Manager of Xiaomi India, however, stressed that this it's not the only reason, at least for what concerns the Chinese OEM, but another one is added. The internal antennas for signal reception require additional surrounding space to function properly, so the elimination of the jack would be due to the interference that the same would bring to the antennas. In addition, adds Jai Mani, that the choice of Xiaomi to place the antennas at the bottom of the smartphone stems from the fact that users typically focus their attention at the top of the display.
The Xiaomi Product Manager justifies removing the headphone jack
On the post appeared on Tweeter, it is very stressed the interference that could be generated with the presence of the jack 3,5 mm. The solution could take place tomorrow, but for reasons of time and money it is easier to reduce the size of the lower frames by offering full screen displays that find a solution to the problem. Finally, although it is not really an economic choice, the company prefers to equip the devices with USB Type-C adapters that cost a few dollars and therefore save money in the long run. A reasoning that all in all does not make a turn, but that many may not calm souls.
