iQOO Z9 Turbo, Z9 and Z9x presented in China: are the killer Redmis coming?

iQOO recently held a launch conference for its new smartphone series, the iQOO Z9, which includes three models: iQOO Z9 Turbo, iQOO Z9 and iQOO Z9x. These devices are positioned in different market segments, from high to low, offering a variety of options to meet the needs of different users.

iQOO Z9 Turbo: the top of the series

The top model, theiQOO Z9 Turbo, has been nicknamed “super large cup” for its powerful configuration. Aesthetically, the device pays homage to the flagship iQOO 12 series, featuring a similar design that makes it accessible even to those on a limited budget.

The device boasts an impressive 6.78 inch screen with 1.5K 8T 144H 8T technology, capable of displaying 1.07 billion colors and a resolution of 2800 × 1260. The LTPO panel offers an intelligent dynamic refresh rate from 1 to 144Hz, HDR10+ support, a contrast of 8,000,000:1, and a brightness that varies from 600nit to a local peak of 3000nit. The color gamut covers 100% of the DCI-P3 spectrum and 105% NTSC, ensuring a high-level viewing experience.

Under the hood, the iQOO Z9 Turbo houses the Snapdragon 8s Gen3 processor, which offers comparable performance to its Snapdragon 8Gen2 predecessor, albeit with a slightly less powerful GPU. Also new is the introduction of the Turbo independent display chip, a signature feature of iQOO, now available in the Z series for the first time.

Prices vary by configuration, starting from 1999 yuan (260 euros) for the 12GB + 256GB version, 2299 yuan (approximately 300 euros) for 16GB + 256GB, 2399 yuan (310 euros) for 12GB + 512GB and 2599 yuan (330 euros) for 16GB + 512GB.

iQOO Z9: the standard model


THEiQOO Z9 it shares many of the Turbo model's specs, including screen, battery, fast charging, heat dissipation, and water and dust resistance. However, it differs in the Snapdragon 7Gen3 processor, the absence of the Turbo graphics chip and a slightly different rear camera setup, with a 50 megapixe main sensorl flanked by a 2 megapixel depth sensor.

La RAM is LPDDR4X type and internal memory is UFS2.2, unlike the iQOO Z9 Turbo which uses LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0. Prices for this model they start from 1,399 yuan (180 euros) for the 8GB + 128GB version, up to 1,999 yuan (260 euros) for the 12GB + 512GB version.

iQOO Z9x: the entry-level


Finally, the iQOO Z9x represents the cheapest option in the series. This model is equipped with a Snapdragon 6 Gen1 processor a front 8 megapixel camera and a rear camera combo that includes a 50 megapixel AI main sensor and a 2 megapixel depth sensor.

The device is available in three colors: Yaoye Black, Starburst White and Fengyu Blue, with prices starting from 1,149 yuan (about 150 euros at the exchange rate) for the 8GB + 128GB version up to 1,449 yuan (approximately 180 euros) for the 12GB + 256GB version.
