I still remember when I was a “kid” and had my own band, listening to studio recordings through professional headphones but I also remember how uncomfortable they were. Well, after a few decades, technology has made great strides, offering the market headphones with slipper-like comfort but above all today you don't have to sell a kidney to access excellent products. Having said this, I am happy to tell you about Linsoul Kiwi Ears Ellipse, super comfortable studio quality headphones that you will never take off your head.
The Kiwi Ears Ellipse are made of plastic for the earcups while the structure that joins the arch is made of metal, in addition to the metal grille always present on the earcups. The combination of the two materials is well done and the feeling to the touch is not at all cheap, indeed both to the sight and to the feeling the sensation is that of a premium product. The padding of the arch covered in imitation leather, a material that is also used for the padding of the earcups, also contributes to the excellent tactile and visual experience. The padding is soft and consistent to the right point to provide sublime comfort and durability over time. Finally, the extension mechanism of the arch allows the headphones to be adapted even to rather large heads.

Speaking of cushions, these can be removed for replacement or simply for a thorough cleaning. Once removed from their place, you notice how Linsoul has worked meticulously for the Kiwi Ears, inserting a series of ventilation holes, to facilitate the transpiration of the ears in contact with the imitation leather.

For what should be considered a budget headset, the Ellipse seems very durable. The mesh and design seem more like an 80s vinyl record, which gives a touch of uniqueness to the product. I was also impressed by how light the headset is, weighing only 280 grams, with an excellent weight distribution that also contributes to the stability of the product when worn. In fact, the two pavilions squeeze the ears well but without excess and without creating pain after long listening sessions. In fact, the Kiwi Ears Ellipse are open-back, meaning they offer a more open/wide listening field as if the sound source were all around you. This type of design uses less material so the headset is lighter, providing a better and more comfortable fit even in prolonged use. In addition, you have a greater perception of the environment around you during gaming sessions as well as a more faithful and balanced listening experience.

As for the cable, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it is detachable and not fixed and with a length that is definitely great for reaching distant audio sources. We are talking about a length of 3 meters of the detachable type: one end, the one that attaches to the audio source, has both the 3,5 mm jack plug and a larger one via an adapter included in the package that can be screwed/unscrewed as needed, for example if we need to connect the headphones to an amplifier. The other two ends have 3,5 mm jack inputs marked with the letters R and L, identifying the correct direction. The cable is braided, resistant and prevents tangling.

Okay, now let’s talk about sound quality, one of the most important elements of a headphone review. My first-rate reaction is that the headphones sound much better than expected and much better than their competitors in the same price range, with a particular focus on the bass, which is punchy, warm and nuanced. I tested the Kiwi Ears Ellipse on a wide variety of tracks, ranging from EDM, orchestra, live jazz, alternative rock and some house. The 50mm drivers do a good job of reproducing the entire sound spectrum without distortion, never falling into confusion or particular momentum.

I also tested them for video editing and they helped me to level the speech with the background music, but I also tested them in gaming with impressive performance. You can hear every single sound element of the game scene, useful for shooters, picking up the sound of the enemy's footsteps behind you.
