IEMs with WOODEN DIAPHRAGM – TWISTURA WoodNote

In this review, I'll be looking at the Twistura Woodnote, a pair of IEMs (in-ear monitors) that boast a unique 10mm revitalized wood diaphragm as well as various tuning filters, depending on your intended use. The price tag may seem high, but if you're an audiophile, once you realize the potential of these earphones, you'll actually think they're being sold at a premium.

What's in the sales package

The sales package is particularly rich in accessories, highlighting the premium feel of the product Linsoul sent us. Once we've removed the cover, which depicts the product with some specifications, we open the lid of the package, which offers several compartments, each containing pleasant surprises. Specifically, we find:

  • Twistura Woodnote IEM;
  • Detachable cable with 2-pin 0,78mm driver hookups;
  • 12 pairs of silicone ear tips, with different holes, sizes and firmness;
  • 3 pairs of tuning filters (standard, instrumental, voice);
  • Hard carrying case:
  • 3.5 and 4.4 mm jack connection;

How they are made?

At first glance, the Twistura Woodnotes stand out for their elegance, featuring aluminum alloy shells with a matte finish. They're reasonably small and visually discreet. Another notable detail is a sort of silicone support on the underside of the shells that rests on the ear canal. This helps with grip and, above all, comfort, as this material is softer and more comfortable than metal. Overall, the ergonomics are top-notch, thanks in part to their lightweight and compact size, which doesn't tire your ears even after extended use—and concertgoers know exactly what I'm talking about.

The Woodnote earphones come with a hybrid cable that combines oxygen-free copper (OFC), copper alloy, silver-copper alloy, and copper-graphene. It looks and feels high-quality, but I found it a bit bulky compared to the smaller dimensions of the IEMs. Other than that, I didn't find any particular stiffness, especially in the headbands that connect to the earphones, thus offering a stable fit. The terminal offers the option of swapping out the jack, choosing between 3,5mm and 4,4mm, which will remain stable thanks to a screw-on pin closure.

As mentioned in the unboxing section, the headphones come with a set of interchangeable tips that can be easily unscrewed from their shells, choosing the one best suited to your intended use—e.g., focusing on vocals, instruments only, or standard listening. You also get four sets of silicone tips in different sizes, colors, and with varying degrees of perforation, allowing you to customize not only the aesthetics but also the sound quality.

Tuning and sound filters

I admit I'm not an audiophile, so my ears couldn't distinguish any particular differences between the Vocal and Instrumental filters, while the Standard one stood out for its more pronounced bass and warmer tone. For better performance, I used a DAC AMP, while the audio source you pair the Twistura Woodnotes with doesn't matter, as they are easy to drive IEMs.

The sound signature is warm and balanced, offering a clinical precision in musicality, aimed at making each instrument in a track stand out. The timbre is organic and natural, as if the instruments were placed right in front of you. The bass is moderate but satisfying: the sub-bass rumbles smoothly, lending a delicate sense of depth, while the mid-bass offers a lively and rounded impact. Notes are controlled and tight, with minimal dispersion, adding a warm, earthy foundation that holds the sound firmly in place without weighing it down. The mids are smooth and organic, never losing clarity or definition. The highs are crafted with a deliberate nod to musicality, sounding smooth yet vibrant, with an airiness that comes from the impressive extension. It's the kind of highs that invite long listening sessions, avoiding listening fatigue. The result is a refined and engaging high range, lively yet natural.

For a single-driver IEM, instrument separation is remarkably clear, giving each sound its own space, without clutter. It features a wooden diaphragm with a spherical composite membrane, crafted from carefully selected natural wood fibers. The pair houses a 10mm dual-magnet, dual-chamber dynamic driver that promises impactful bass response, a precise midrange, and a defined high-frequency region. Twistura designed the pair with a professional venting system that ensures a comfortable wearing experience.

Conclusions

The Twistura Woodnotes are solid IEMs, with a natural, immersive sound and excellent balance that make them worth a try. That said, being a lesser-known brand and with a higher price tag, they might struggle to win over buyers hesitant to take a risk. But considering they're available for around €130, the risk isn't that high. I'm really impressed with what Twistura has achieved and can't wait to see what they do next.
