Well, Lei Jun, the founder and CEO of Xiaomi Group listened to the criticism and issued an official response about it.

The Xiaomi smartphone family is finally complete. It is divided mainly into two lines: Xiaomi and Redmi.
The Xiaomi brand will explore all the best technologies currently available with a focus on sales in physical stores.
This brand includes the Mi series (hence Mi 9 / Mi 9 SE) for mass flagships, the Mi MIX series that brings more premium devices to the market and the new CC series that will produce smartphones that follow the fashions of the moment with an eye to the Young people. We are not working on any other series at the moment, be it Mi Max or Mi Note, at least for this year.
We then have the Redmi brand. This will focus on creating devices with a very good relationship between specifications and price, with a focus on online sales.
Within Redmi there are a total of six series: Redmi 7A, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi K20 and K20 Pro.

So once and for all Lei Jun makes us finally understand what all the brands and series are working on, at least to date. Obviously the CEO of Xiaomi speaks only for the Chinese market, as we all know the Redmi K20 it is called Xiaomi Mi 9T in the rest of the world.
In any case, we cannot fail to notice the lack of series such as the "A", which in Italy had a good success (for example Mi A2, known in China as Mi 6X). While it may displease many more people, the confirmation that this year we will not see a Xiaomi Mi Max 4, news to say the least poco unexpected.
We also wish to specify that Lei Jun himself admits that this is a preliminary resolution and therefore could change in the future.
