Both based on processors AMD Ryzen 5000, they also have a high-resolution display and WiFi 6. Not only that: they have a whole series of very interesting features and a really attractive price. Let's find out more details in the next lines.

Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 and ThinkPad E15 Gen 4: technical specifications

Although they are not particularly different in terms of aesthetics from the previous generation models, the new Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 and ThinkPad E15 Gen4 certainly have a more updated hardware equipment. Starting with the AMD Brcelo APU to choose between a quad-core AMD Ryzen 3 5425U at 2.7GHz, one hexa-core AMD Ryzen 5 5625U at 2.3GHz or an octa-core AMD Ryzen 7 5725U at 2.0GHz.

All with AMD Radeon Vega graphics, up to 40GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM (4 / 8GB soldered plus one free slot) and two NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 SSD drives (2242 and 2280) with capacities from 256GB to 1TB. Elements that the two notebooks share: in fact, different aspects of the data sheet are practically identical, except that there is one important difference regarding the display.

The Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 integrates a 14.1", while Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen 4 has a wider panel, that is 15,6". Both are FHD, in 16:9 with brightness (250/300 nits), color coverage (45% NTSC or 100% sRGB) and contrast ratio (500:1, 800:1 and 1200:1) depending on the type. And it is consequential that the two laptops also present differences with reference to their dimensions: the smaller model measures 324 x 220.7 x 18.9 mm and weighs 1.59Kg, while the other has dimensions of 365 x 240 x 18.9 mm with a weight of 1.78Kg. Both remain compact and light, perfect for use on the go.

But let's get back to the common specifications. Both notebooks have an aluminum or aluminum / plastic chassis, available in black or Mineral Metallic colors. Inside we have extensive connectivity:

  • 6 WiFi (2 × 2, MediaTek MT7921 or Realtek RTL8852BE)
  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • HDMI 1.4b
  • combo audio jack
  • One USB 3.2 Gen1 (Always On), one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.2 Type-C Gen2

In addition, it is also possible to add an RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port (Realtek RTL8111H-CG) on the smaller notebook (in the large one it is already fitted as standard). The equipment includes two speakers (2 x 2W) Dolby Audio Harman, an optional backlit waterproof keyboard with touchpad and trackpoint, a 720p or 1080p webcam equipped with infrared technology to allow facial recognition for authentication with Windows Hello, a reader optional fingerprint and one battery from 45W.

The latter should allow aautonomy declared 9 hours, in addition to supporting fast charging: in one hour it will recharge the laptop by 80%. In case more battery is needed, users can choose a larger 57Wh battery (which promises up to 15 hours of battery life).

Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 and ThinkPad E15 Gen 4: availability and price

We come to the availability and price of these two new inexpensive business notebooks from Lenovo. Cheap yes, because the prices of Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 in its two configurations start at 1169 €. The laptop is already available in Italy, while at the moment the same cannot be said of Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen4.

It will almost certainly be included in the price list shortly, so you just have to wait. In conclusion, these are two portable PCs to consider: their value for money is really interesting and deserves more than a little thought in terms of purchase.
