Today, the general manager of Redmi and vice president of Xiaomi, Lu Weibing, shared his personal thoughts on the social Weibo (the Chinese Twitter) regarding the batteries of the new smartphones with support for 5G technology.
Lu Weibing: 5G smartphones should have at least 4500mAh of battery, arrow to Oppo?

The top of the range with support for all the different bands of the 5G network have an energy consumption 20% higher than devices with 4G technology. So, making a simple conversion, a 5G smartphone with a 4000mAh battery is actually equivalent to a 4G smartphone with a 3200mAh battery.
This is the reason why the Redmi K30 Pro has been equipped with a battery of over 4500mAh, just like every 5G smartphone should be.

Lu Weibing's message seems quite logical, if consumption increases due to 5G technology and the battery remains the same size, then we will have a worse autonomy.
However, what Weibing does not tell us is that today a new device has been presented, not surprisingly part of the top of the range category and with a 4000mAh battery on board. Let's talk about the Oppo Ace2, a smartphone that could give the Redmi flagship a hard time.
