MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Destroys Apple A18 Pro in Graphics (Leak)

Il MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is almost here, with a launch planned for October. Thanks to the well-known blogger Digital Chat Station, we now have a preview of its graphics capabilities through benchmark scores. The leaked data focuses on the Dimensity 9400's performance in the GFX Aztec 1440P off-screen Vulkan test, a popular benchmark for mobile GPUs.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Destroys Apple A18 Pro in Graphics (Leak)

The tipster shared a screenshot showing MediaTek's upcoming SoC reaching 134 fps in the benchmark. For comparison, Apple’s A18 Pro reaches 72 fps, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 tops out at 95 fps.

The numbers speak for themselves. The Dimensity 9400 offers an improvement in 86% performance over Apple's latest A18 Pro chip, present in the iPhone 16 Pro series. It also beats the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by a respectable 41%.

The Dimensity 9400 uses the latest Mali-G925-Immortalis MC12 GPU, paired with a powerful 925GHz Arm Cortex-X3,63 CPU. We can't forget the rumors suggesting a 30% jump in GPU performance over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

ARM, the GPU maker, says the Immortalis G925 is their “most powerful and efficient GPU” to date. Compared to the previous-generation G720, it boasts:

  • A 37% increase in graphics application performance
  • A 52% improvement in ray tracing for complex objects
  • A 34% increase in performance for AI and machine learning workloads
  • A 30% reduction in energy consumption

This is a significant upgrade all round. Independent benchmarks will be needed to confirm these numbers, but the potential is exciting.

Meanwhile, Apple’s A18 Pro uses a 6-core GPU and offers a 20% performance boost over its predecessor. While respectable, it pales in comparison to the raw power of the Dimensity 9400 based on these leaks.

Let us remember that it too Snapdragon 8 Gen4 Qualcomm's flagship is slated for an October launch, with details remaining under wraps. The three-way battle for mobile GPU supremacy is certainly getting interesting.
