MediaTek has introduced its new flagship chipset, the Dimensity 8450, during the India Dimensity Summit, an event that saw the participation of numerous mobile brands, including OPPO, Vivo, Motorola, Redmi, Realme, Infinix, Samsung and Lava.
MediaTek Dimensity 8450 Official: A Small Upgrade Over Its Predecessor
The Dimensity 8450 is built with production process at 4nm and adopt a all-big-core configuration consisting of eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores. The structure includes a core with 1MB of L2 cache, three cores with 512KB and four cores with 256KB, accompanied by 6MB of L3 cache and 5MB of system cache. The graphics department is entrusted to the Mali-G720 MC7 GPU, designed to offer high performance with low energy consumption.
On the artificial intelligence front, the new SoC integrates the NPU 880 with Agentic AI Engine, capable of running generative models and LLM directly on the device. This solution enables you to run advanced AI workloads without relying on the cloud, improving privacy and efficiency.Support for 4K60 HDR (HLG) video recording is powered by a Dual EIS motor, which ensures smooth stabilization even in dynamic conditions. In addition, the Live Broadcast Booster function improves facial clarity during live streaming while reducing power consumption by 7%.
As for photography, the Dimensity 8450 features theImagiq 1080 ISP, that supports sensors up to 320MP, in-sensor zoom with QPD remozaic technology, lag-free HDR and full-surface PDAF autofocus. The chip is ccompatible with WQHD+ display at 144Hz and dual-screen configurations, making it ideal for foldable devices or advanced multitasking.
Gaming gets special attention thanks to MediaTek HyperEngine MAGT 3.0, which improves touch responsiveness and optimizes switching between 5G and Wi-Fi networks. The integrated modem supports 3CC aggregation with download speed up to 5,17 Gbps, while connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E (2T2R), Bluetooth 5.4, LPDDR5X RAM up to 8533 Mbps and UFS 4.0 storage with MCQ.
In India, OPPO will inaugurate the commercial debut of the Dimensity 8450 with the launch of the Reno 14 Pro, shortly followed by a K series model.
