We often find ourselves at home with areas where the WiFi signal has difficulty reaching, but there are products on the market that allow you to increase the range of your WiFi network, and among these we find the Wavlink AX3000, a WiFi repeater that offers universal compatibility with all WiFi-enabled devices, routers or access points as well as having backward compatibility with the IEEE 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n standards, all at an affordable price but without sacrificing high performance.

The company
You probably don't know the Wavlink brand, a company specialized in the field of network and communications technology, founded in 2011, which immediately stood out for the solutions offered that are widely applicable in domestic, business and industrial environments, counting on collaborations with renowned companies such as Intel, MTK, DisplayLink and others but also on international recognition such as the one at the IFA 2018 Consumer Electronics Show, with the M2 Pro network hotspot that was awarded the "Smart Home Black Technology Award"

The Wavlink AX3000 does not limit itself to repeating the WiFi signal, but can also be used as a Mesh Router or Access Point. For those who do not know, Mesh is a single network formed by various repeaters. Our device will therefore always connect to the closest repeater in order to have the best signal.

Design and connections
The product in question does not boast compact dimensions, but it can still be connected directly to an electrical outlet. First of all we find the WiFi standard 802.11ax (WiFi 6) and bandwidth of 80 MHz for better capacity and efficiency which guarantees simultaneous dual-band streaming and specifically dual band 2.4G 573 Mbps + 5G 2402 Mbps with aggregate speeds of up to 3000 Mbps but we also have a Gigabit Ethernet port for high-speed browsing experiences.

For WiFi we have WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK/WPA3-PSK wireless security encryption that we can easily bypass via the WPS button. Wavlink AX3000 integrates 4 5 dBi omnidirectional antennas with MU-MIMO and OFDMA support for managing multiple devices without delays or buffering. The brand's model measures 159 x 73,6 x 43 mm and weighs 295 grams with ease of installation directly to the electrical outlet and once set up you will be ready. You will only have to turn it on via the On/Off button located on the side, but there is also an additional button for resetting and the aforementioned WPS button.

The correct functioning of the device is communicated by a ring LED that surrounds the WPS button, which can however be deactivated if you place the extender in the bedroom and the light should disturb your sleep. I emphasize the presence of the 4 high-gain copper antennas which expand the coverage area and the direction of the wireless signal, allowing you to cover the entire house effectively and dynamically, without dead zones.

The contents of the box
The unboxing experience is not particularly rich, but the product itself does not require any special equipment, however complete to install, connect and use the WiFi repeater. Specifically, inside the box you will find:
- Wavlink AX3000;
- Ethernet cable;
- User Manual.

Usually, range extenders do not provide an Ethernet cable, because it is an accessory that you may already have and especially because the device connects wirelessly. In this case, however, given the dual nature of WiFi repeater and access point, Wavlink has decided to provide one.
Maximum speeds
802.11ax: Up to 334 Mbps
802.11ac: up to 867 Mbps (Wave2)
802.11n: Up to 300 Mbps
802.11a: Up to 54 Mbps
802.11g: 54 Mbps
802.11b: 11Mbps

Setup and Features
When dealing with a WiFi repeater, the configuration is very simple via the WPS button but management is also possible via the classic web browser interface which can be accessed via login and password, written on the back of the device, which can however be changed.

You just need to search for the wifi network created by the repeater, in reality there will be two networks created, one at 2.4 GHz transmission and the other at 5 GHz. When you connect for the first time, you are immediately redirected to the configuration page, then setting the country and time. We can then choose the operating mode by selecting between the options of repeater, access point, mesh router or mesh extender.

For example, in the case of a repeater, after scanning the available networks, you connect to the main router at home or in the office for example. At this point we can change the name initially proposed for the duplicated network or keep the data of the main WiFi. The configuration page shows the status of the network and the type, but also the workload while in the advanced settings we can decide the power of the bandwidth in order to customize its quality, for example if we are in the presence of many buildings and therefore with a lot of interference, thus decreasing the speed for the benefit of connection stability. For the more geeks we can also have the advanced management of TWT (Target Wake Time) resources which reduces energy consumption. Finally, we can enable dual band on a single network so that the Wavlink AX6000 automatically selects the best band for the associated device.

Given the support for WiFi 6, this is a WiFi repeater particularly suitable for connecting many different devices to each other. For this purpose, there is both MU-MIMO technology and WPA3 protection, which makes the connection to the WLAN network more secure. Among the most interesting, and probably also most useful, features is compatibility with Mesh. The best WiFi repeaters allow you to create a sort of Mesh network with some modem routers and routers. In the latter case, if you have a compatible modem router or router, you can add the WiFi repeater to a mesh network. Despite the differences between the two devices, you can simplify network management without losing anything in transmission and speed.

In my tests I managed to at least double the signal strength that I usually had in the "shadow" point but what amazed me was the browsing speed that I managed to achieve, obtaining at least 5 times higher than the value I achieved without the aid of Wavlink.

Conclusions
The Wavlink AX3000 is undoubtedly one of the best WiFi repeaters available today at a low cost. The WLAN port, WiFi 6 support and Mesh function make it one of the most complete devices on the market, but above all the purchase price is literally tempting: €63,99 by redeeming the discount coupon on the purchase page on Amazon Italy with warranty and Prime shipping. What are you still doing here, run to buy it and stop swearing about the continuous stops and disconnections of your favorite TV series or match.
