When we talk about modding on smartphones, we are talking about whatever our mind can think. To spin Windows 10 e Windows 11 on Xiaomi Mi 8 it was not a problem and apparently it is not either run MIUI 11 on iPhone. That's what happened in Russia since poco. A user who prefers to remain anonymous has decided to commit himself and install the previous version of the Xiaomi Android skin on an iPhone. But let's go see the details.
A Russian user managed to install Xiaomi's MIUI 11 on his iPhone through a long-known vulnerability (Checkm8): nice right?
When it was once said that Xiaomi was the Chinese Apple ... maybe kilo said he was right. According to what emerged, a Russian user, exploiting a known vulnerability in the iOS system managed to install MIUI 11 on an iPhone. It has not been reported which type of iPhone is the protagonist, although we can guess it from the video, nor what procedure has been adopted to change "soul" to the device. What we do know is that the MIUI 11 system seems to work flawlessly. Here is the video.
Unfortunately, the clip offered to us by the user is not very long and therefore we are unable to say which operations the iPhone with MIUI 11 can complete. But having said that, how was it possible to install it? Using a program that exploits a codenamed vulnerability checkm8, capable of violating the security of most of the Apple devices produced in recent years. This change can only be implemented if they are met two features:
- only the mobile device (in this case the iPhone of the video) is needed be unlocked using the PIN or password set by the user. In fact, the program acts at a lower level than that of the operating system
- Apple cannot fix the bug in any way as a hardware vulnerability, therefore physical, is exploited
That said, the attempt (apparently successful) to insert Xiaomi's MIUI 11 on an iPhone is interesting. Will you try it too, geeks?
