The LHDC codec was added for the first time on a Xiaomi device on the Mi 9 Pro 5G model, a terminal that we have never officially seen on our market, as it is dedicated to the Asian one. In terms of sound quality, the LHDC Hi-Res codec manages to transmit high resolution audio up to 24 bit / 96 KHz at 900 Kbps, practically 3 times higher than the traditional SBC Bluetooth codec (328 Kbps). LHDC is a proprietary standard of Sony and at the moment it is one of the most qualitative protocols so as to receive the certification of the Japan Music Association.
MIUI 12 introduces the LHDC audio codec on Xiaomi Mi 9 (but not only)
Latency is really zeroed, therefore offering top performance even during gaming, although for these solutions the best choice is always to use wired headphones. The traditional SBC Bluetooth encoding and decoding provides an audio and video delay that generally reaches 400 ms, while the LHDC solution reduces this latency to 80 ms, which greatly improves the audio and video synchronization in games and multimedia content in general.
Definitely a great thing for all owners of Mi 9 even if it will not be an exclusive in fact the future release of MIUI 12 Global with its LHDC codec will also reach other Xiaomi smartphones such as CC9 Pro, Mi Note 10, Redmi K30, Redmi K30 5G, Mi Mix 2S, Mi 8, Mi 8 Pro, Pocophone F1, Mi 8SE, Mi 8 Lite, Mi Max 3, Mi Mix 3, Redmi K20, Mi 9T, Redmi K20 Pro, Mi 9T Pro, Mi 9 SE, CC9 and Mi 9 Lite.
