MIUI 12: the first (serious) petition for Xiaomi arrives, all the information

La MIUI 12 it is not perfect and we always say this. And we realized it more than before when, at the time of the presentation in Europe of version 12.5, we were missing many features that the ROM China had. For more information in this regard, we invite you by letter this article. Basically we Global users find ourselves one "weakened" version of the original Chinese skin and one of the reasons is the burdening of the system of Google services. These, we remember, are not present on Chinese devices. So what? So the team MIUIs he thought about launching a petition. That's what it is

MIUI 12.5 Global is not the same as China. That is why a petition against Xiaomi was set up. Will MIUI change?

Today the team MIUIs posted a petition on its Telegram channel regarding MIUI 12.5 and, more generally, Xiaomi. In truth it is more than one complaint that tries to make people understand when there is something different (and wrong) in MIUI 12 Global compared to that of China. Not that these things are not known to the developers and the upper echelons, but there is a good thing poco to do in reality. However, the team has decided to "raise their voices" and here's what they ask for.

It starts from the birth of Xiaomi and the customized Android interface. Back in 2010, when the company began to take its steps, there was talk of an open system that it could be completely customized. Among these customizations there are those related to the themes but in general all the things that can be changed through the system options. However, we have come to a time when MIUI, in particular MIUI 12, no longer stands as an alternative system it once was.

Although thanks to the arrival of Xiaomi in the Global market, users of this market do not have to resort to importing devices from China, many of us have seen the need to resort to change of the Global ROM for the Chinese version or third-party ROM. Over the past few months, we've seen devices that have become unusable when OTA updates are released poco studied (such as the case of POCO M3 that no longer turns on), which practically all devices contain fatal errors which make it impossible to use.

What do you ask?

The Spanish team (along with all signatories) is asking for better support for Global ROMs, with the creation of a department in Europe dedicated exclusively to them, a greater contact with users and reporting errors that actually need to be corrected. Not having a development department outside of China causes the developers themselves do not test ROMs in European or American territory, therefore, many of the errors are not detected until the update is released. Furthermore, the developer-user contact is damaged by the language barrier (but here it is poco to do, a department for each nation would be needed).

miui petition 12.5

Also, a second thing that stands out is the difference between the Chinese and Global MIUI 12.5. As we have seen previously, there are many features that we Global users cannot use. Think of MIUI +, for example. But as we know, not everything we complain about is Xiaomi's fault. In fact, most of the problems stem from the implementation of Google services. But not only that: as in the case of the lack of the MIUI dialer, we certainly cannot blame Xiaomi! It is a regulation at European level that prohibits dialers with call recording function. Only Google can do this, as the privacy authority has determined that it is the only company that can do it.

Thirdly, the number of devices. If on the one hand, this aspect suits the company, on the other we have a deterioration in the service. With more smartphones to look after, feedback like development is clearly slow.

Finally, the ecosystem. One of the best features of the brand is the ecosystem, its products and its applications. But each time we can enjoy it less and less because of the replacement of applications by Google. Here too: we do not know if this depends entirely on Xiaomi, but we harbor our doubts.

Conclusions: to sign or not to sign the petition for MIUI 12?

There are those who agree and those who do not. The choice is, fortunately, subjective. We have exposed our points of view, however trying to remain as objective as possible: there are some things that Xiaomi cannot really do anything about, while others, on the contrary, can change them. Below we leave you the link to the complaint, which you have the opportunity to sign. This is not an official petition, however it could help move something.
