The year that is about to end is to be remembered in the smartphone world for consolidating two main trends: frameless design and double back camera. Xiaomi, it is always useful to remember it, was at the base of the revolution that introduced the "full screen", anticipating the times already last year with the revolutionary Mi Mix and, after presenting its Mi Mix 2 evolution, is already the moment to think about the future. After Mi Mix, in fact, the response of Samsung & Co. was not long in coming and at the beginning of the year the Coheran house presented its flagship Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, equipped with “Infinity Display” and minimal frames. Recent history has seen many manufacturers create their own bezel-less phones, although graphic tweaks have sometimes caused more of a stir than the actual design. Despite this, the general trend has been to significantly reduce the side edges, thus obtaining a larger display size compared to globally larger devices.
And thoughts can not go to Apple, forced to revisit its philosophy in favor of "unbound" with the introduction of the iPhone X. A smartphone that came in anyway in an original way, introducing an element of discontinuity, best known as the "notch" at the top of the screen, technically used to house the camera and Face Id sensors. According to a picture just leaked of what should be the next Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s, instead of paying attention to the linearity and continuity of the frames, the designers would think of a new element of discontinuity, this time positioned in the "corner at the top right of the display. To be honest, the camera's position might seem a little unusual, but probably just because we're not used to this type of solution.
Undoubtedly, if all was confirmed, with Mi Mix 2S we would be faced with something as strange as original, so it would be wise to ask how true this image is, although Slashleaks has often been the source of world previews, confirmed later by official presentations.
It is therefore legitimate to wonder whether, in devices that are losing any edge in favor of a general display expansion, in light of what we are seeing, the true new hallmark of the next models is not really the positioning and shape of the "notch".
