In recent years they have certainly gone out of fashion, in fact with increasingly larger smartphone displays, tablets have become less necessary. I remember the first 8" ones, now smartphones are almost 7" so why buy a tablet? Well, it depends... if we want to enjoy multimedia content in a massive way (films, TV series, social videos) then the sense is certainly there, especially as in the case of N-one NPad Ultra which offers us a beautiful 12" display with 2K resolution. AESTHETICS AND DIMENSIONS N-one NPad Ultra
I must say that N-one from an aesthetic point of view you don't have to learn from anyone! This Npad Ultra is also a real jewel, made entirely of heavy aluminum alloy 580Gr and is often alone 7.5 mm! This thickness combined with the weight gives us an excellent grip and a wonderful feeling of comfort when we hold it in our hand, despite the enormous display 12". The other measurements are 280mm x 175mm also contained, thanks to the very small frames, always considering what the Display offers us in terms of size.
On the upper horizontal side we find the power button, the volume rocker and the 2 microphones, while on the lower vertical side the trolley for the SIM and the micro SD (Or dual sim), the USB charging socket Type C and the two speaker grills. On the upper vertical are the other two speaker grills (4 stereo speakers) while the lower horizontal one remains “clean”. On the back we find, at the top right, the slightly protruding but well-finished camera module, with an insert of another color and a gold-colored ring around the module. The color of the tablet is a beautiful satin dark gray that makes it a very elegant product and retains very little fingerprints! Aesthetically it gets full marks.
The only flaw is that the camera has been placed on the same side as the keys but on the opposite end, therefore in the portrait position, to keep the camera at the top we will have the power button and the volume rocker at the bottom (therefore with the keys reversed). Curious choice, not to call it a DESIGN ERROR, since usually the keys and camera are located on the top of the horizontal side.

As you may have seen from the data sheet, this tablet lacks nothing to be our daily companion in supporting the smartphone. The possibility of making calls is really convenient (even DUAL SIM), so in particular cases we could also use it as a telephone, it also features the infamous Band 20. Note the absence of the 3.5mm audio jack which will certainly not make lovers of their old headphones happy, but I remind you that with a few euros you can buy good adapters and solve the problem (buy it here)
ACCESSORIES
In the sales bundle of this offer you will receive, as already mentioned, many really interesting accessories. Let's definitely start from BT keyboard which will allow you to transform your tablet into a real PC. For charging you can use a Type C cable and a 10W charger will be fine. The original case is excellent and closes like a book but does not turn the display off and on again when closing and opening it. In any case, the possibility of keeping the tablet open in the use position is good to facilitate the possible use of the keyboard.
DISPLAY
The display is great incell da 12" with excellent resolution, 2K, 2000 x 1200p. The colors are well balanced, and we will also have 3 different settings (natural, boosted, adaptive) to be used according to our preferences. if we want natural colors we will set "natural", the default setting, boosted if we want more vivid colors while we will leave "adaptive" to make the colors adapt based on the brightness of the environment we are in. We will also have the option to set a night mode which we will use to avoid tiring our eyes when we use it in the evening. It's really enjoyable to enjoy videos at maximum definition and the small frames make everything even more enjoyable. The maximum brightness is 380nits, a value that allowed me not to have any readability problems even outdoors. Obviously, don't think about seeing how it can be done with a latest generation smartphone under direct sunlight, but you certainly won't be able to complain.
AUDIO
If I was pleasantly surprised with the X1, I was a little disappointed with this Ultra. In fact, I did not find the same quality as its predecessors and although we are faced with a HW department with 4 stereo speakers, the sound did not convince me. I find it quite low on low frequencies, obviously I wasn't expecting anything transcendental but something more yes. Even the high frequencies seem slightly muffled to me. It is not known if there are (but I don't think) chips dedicated to audio, if the issue is software or if more simply from this point of view we are below expectations. As far as I'm concerned, today when I tried it (end of July 2024) it remains a tablet on which to easily listen to videos from social media, films and TV series but if you want to use it to listen to music videos with the integrated speakers you might be disappointed.
SOFTWARE
N-One NPad arrives with Android 14 and security patches dated April 2024, so I'd say very good! The operating system is very fluid but we lose the Windows style bar in landscape mode. In this mode you will find the dock moved to the right on the short side of the display, a questionable choice that I don't like. The Windows style bar of the X1 was in my opinion one of the software gems. There is no shortage of the ability to navigate via gestures, record the screen, and have dark mode. Also present is multi account, child safety control as well as digital well-being. Good strong and precise haptic feedback. The automatic on and off timer is missing which unfortunately I never find in any Chinese tablet.
What is very important is compatibility with the highest level of protection of digital contents Widevine L1, to make a long story short you will be able to enjoy the contents of your streaming services (Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Video, etc.) with the highest resolution available on the platform!
Via software it will also be possible to increase the size of the RAM, from the physical 8Gb we can reach 20Gb thanks to the virtual 12Gb.
CONNECTIONS
Nothing to complain about even on the networking and connections side. In fact, the Wi-Fi dual band, therefore also with the 5Ghz band, the BlueTooth 5.2, the telephone connection 4G LTE with dual sim (With 20 band included) and even the possibility of making voice calls on the telephone line. As you can see, absolutely nothing is missing and based on the price I must say that it is difficult to find other products with this well-stocked technical sheet. The connection via Wi-Fi on 5Ghz lines is excellent, very fast and stable. I also tested the quality of the GPS chipset and from this point of view I am satisfied too. Precise, perhaps not as impeccable as a top-of-the-range smartphone but certainly preferable in the car thanks to its excellent 12″ display. There is also memory expansion via MicroSD which however you cannot use simultaneously with the dual SIM (therefore single SIM and microSD or Dual Sim without memory expansion). USB OTG function also available. The instruction booklet also mentions a connection to a TV via HDMI, but there are no HDMI ports on the tablet. So I assume it's a misprint or you could get this connection with a Type C – HDMI cable purchased separately.
CAMERAS
As is obvious, a tablet is certainly not a usable device for capturing our best moments.. in fact the cams that are usually mounted are only discreet, usually used for video calls. On our npad ultra we find a double rear module with a 13Mpx sensor and a depth sensor. I can't give you the details on the second one, but I can tell you that it is not a macro sensor because in the camera application we can only use the main sensor. Even when you get close to an object you don't switch from one sensor to another and there is no macro mode, so I deduced that the only solution could be the depth one. On the front we find a 5Mpx camera. We have the HDR option to use in difficult light situations, but it doesn't work as you might expect (after all, I reiterate the concept that a tablet should not be used to take souvenir photos). With a steady hand and good light conditions the shots also come out well, perhaps the best I've seen to date on a device of this kind. The videos are discreet, while the selfies don't try them with too much light behind you, there will be no way to illuminate your face well. There is also a PRO mode that allows us to manually set many parameters, including the digital zoom which reaches up to 8X (but I advise against its use). Overall I feel like promoting the camera department, obviously with all the necessary conditions. Here I attach some shots and a video to give you a general idea.
AUTONOMY N-one NPad Ultra
Obviously we could record very different values regarding autonomy, based on the type of Internet connection used (Wi-Fi or LTE/LTE Dual SIM), based on how much signal is captured by the Tablet (intensity which is particularly important in 4G connections) and of course which applications we use (it's one thing to play Real Racing and another to browse our FB home). The maximum performance I achieved, with Wi-Fi connection and mixed use between videos, games and social media, is around 9 hours of screen on! So absolutely promoted
PROJECTED IMPACT
Surely after enlightening you on the features of the tablet you will already have a fairly clear idea whether or not it could be right for you. I must tell you that I had some doubts about recommending this tablet to you when I realized the incredible choice (or mistake) of placing the volume rocker and the power button on the same side of the camera department, but at the opposite end. In this way, as already said before, if you want to keep the camera, as logical it should be at the top, you will then find the buttons at the bottom and also inverted (above you will have the button that decreases the volume and below the one that increases it). Having said this I must also say that the tablet works well, the screen is very nice and large, the software is responsive and the bundle offer that I propose to you is really inviting. If the list price is around € 279, today you can take it home for only 190 € approx, with fast shipping included. At this price obviously everything changes and if you are looking for a tablet with excellent battery life, large screen, Android 14, well go straight to this Npad Ultra and you will not be disappointed.
