Charging your smartphone is a common problem for both Android and iOS users, as is the problem relating to the temperatures that are often reached in certain periods of the year, causing our beloved devices to overheat, which sometimes eventually lose power. performance or even crashes (users who use their phones paired with Android Auto or CarPlay know this well).

With all this in mind, I came across an amazing accessory, developed by the AMEGAT brand, namely a wireless charger with output up to 20W and which specifically allows you to charge your devices wirelessly (via MagSafe technology), while cooling your smartphone at the same time. I tested the product for a long time and I'll tell you right now that although it features MagSafe technology and is therefore specific for Apple devices, if you have an Android smartphone that can charge wirelessly, with a simple MagSafe ring available online for a few euros, even with these devices you can benefit from what the AMEGAT gadget offers.

The sales package appears well-finished also from a graphic point of view, showing at first sight the accessory and some key specifications. Inside, wrapped in a cardboard case we can find:

- 1,5m braided USB-C/USB-C power cable;
- multilingual instruction manual (Italian included).
MATERIALS AND DESIGN
Starting from the power cable, you can see an attention to detail, in fact this is made with braided nylon, resulting resistant over time but above all it avoids annoying tangles of the same. Furthermore, the ends of the connectors are reinforced. But the real protagonist is the charger that offers a modern design, I would go so far as to define it as gaming, thanks to the integration of an LED light inside the fan.
As already mentioned, the AMEGAT gadget is anchored to the smartphone by means of MagSafe technology, using a powerful N52 magnet, which has proven to be really powerful and with strong magnetic power, such that if I try to shake the smartphone while holding it by the gadget itself, the device does not fall.
There is a surface that cools down and therefore allows you to keep the temperatures of the smartphone at bay, avoiding overheating and above all maintaining performance. Under this surface there are powerful magnets with MagSafe technology, which will be responsible for conducting the charging in wireless mode. Cooling occurs by means of a 7-blade fan with a thrust air power equal to 0,93 / m3, while the gadget itself has a circular shape and can naturally be rotated for horizontal or vertical use, also becoming a table stand for the smartphone. Compact design with a height of 2,4 cm and a diameter of 6,2 cm, the charger is portable and easy to store even in a trouser pocket.
We can also use the smartphone with a case: in my tests I used a Samsung Z FLip 6 with a Pitaka cover but also an iPhone 11 Pro, which does not have MagSafe but with the right cover that integrates the magic ring, I was still able to benefit from the AMEGAT gadget. On the central part of the gadget we find a small display that shows the detected temperature in real time, both in °C and °F, a value that can be switched by holding down the button on the right of the fan for 3 seconds, the same button that allows you to adjust the cooling flow on 3 different levels or turn it off, if we want to use the product only as a wireless charger.
There are 2 other buttons, one on the top that allows you to activate/deactivate wireless charging if you just want to cool the device and then a button on the left that turns off the LED integrated in the fan or activates the LED with a fixed light or with a breathing effect. This is useful if you use your smartphone in the dark and want to create a sort of atmosphere or on the contrary if you don't want to disturb your sight or whoever is next to you in bed.
CHARGING TEST
Charging speed is always a concern for users, both in the car and out. In the case of the product offered by AMEGAT, the experience was optimal. During my tests, which took place with both iPhone 11 Pro, Samsung Z Flip 6, iPhone 14 Pro and Motorola Edge 30 Neo with original cover and third-party MagSafe ring, the AMEGAT gadget always delivered the energy for charging at the first try. In the case of the Motorola I could not benefit from the maximum power, since this smartphone supports 5W charging, but the fact of being able to use a product created for Apple on an Android device is already a big victory. Basically, it is possible to deliver a 15W wireless charge which translates into a charge for iPhone 16 in 1,5 hours. This charger is Qi2 certified, therefore offering a fast and stable charge. Furthermore, on devices with MagSafe, it aligns automatically.
On the iPhone 11 Pro, it should be noted that it is not born with native MagSafe technology and even in this case I had to use a third-party cover with a MagSafe ring. The case is quite thick but did not impact charging at all, but probably an iPhone 12 or higher, without a cover, could benefit from an even more efficient charging speed than my device. Compared to other MagSafe chargers, the AMEGAT device managed to maintain a constant charging speed, which when combined with a good power supply can reach performances of 15W.
COOLING PERFORMANCE
Cooling is undoubtedly one of the most notable points of the gadget in question, almost a rarity to find, or at least that is truly functional for the purpose. I tested the charging in different atmospheric conditions, as well as situations of use, and the cooling system demonstrated good performance, indeed I would say excellent. Even when charging the iPhone via MagSafe, especially during long trips or when exposed to the sun, the product kept the temperature of the smartphone under control, always visible from the display integrated into the product.
The cleverly incorporated cooling has managed to significantly reduce the iPhone's overheating, one of the biggest issues I've encountered when charging via cable. Even in harsh conditions such as high temperatures, the device remained cooler than other conventional options. The presence of an internal fan, combined with the intelligent management of heat generated by wireless charging, gave me a good experience. This not only protects the device from possible damage caused by overheating, but also maintains charging efficiency. I even did tests with air conditioning that was almost tropical in temperature, and yet the smartphone always felt cool. These benefits translate into a positive experience even for gaming sessions with the mobile device or when watching streaming, using the AMEGAT gadget also as a table stand.
Speaking of gaming, I mentioned the ambient lighting, as the charging base is equipped with LEDs with two operating modes, constant or breathing, creating a pleasant atmosphere for mobile gaming sessions, making the experience even more immersive. I conclude by saying that the AMEGAT accessory is ultra-safe as it offers protection against overheating and the detection of foreign objects, so it does not work unless a suitable device is connected.
PROJECTED IMPACT
The AMEGAT active cooling charger has many advantages, such as its cooling capacity and versatility in use in different scenarios, from cars to gaming. The only flaw could be the charging speed that does not reach top values but is still in line with the vast majority of devices on the market that offer wireless charging.
As much as I have said several times that I was able to use the gadget even with Android devices, perhaps the fact of not owning an iPhone could leave you fearful in purchasing, but I assure you, especially if you have top-of-the-range devices where you can find many MagSafe cover solutions, that once you have overcome the psychological block you will not be disappointed. But how much does it cost? Well, you can buy it directly from Amazon and take home the gadget with all the guarantees of the store, at a price of only €39,99, really small if it is used to protect smartphones that we have paid even over 1000 euros.
