Lu Weibing gives the confirmation, no Redmi Max on the horizon

Not long ago we had reported the words of Lu Weibing, the vice president of Xiaomi Group and general manager of Redmi, who asked Xiaomi fans and in particular the Mi Max series, why they were so stubborn in wanting a successor.

Lu Weibing had pointed out that the Max series includes somewhat heavy devices and was intent on understanding why the typical user needed such a large screen as the battery.

This interest in the opinions of people on the Max series had led many (including us) to think that the sub-brand could have adopted this line and produced a new Max branded Redmi.

The hypothetical Redmi Max has therefore become the object of desire of many users, who then began to trouble poor Weibing on the Chinese social media Weibo. And then, after dozens of different requests, all concerning the possible future existence of a Redmi Max, the general manager finally responded by making the situation clear.

Unfortunately however, as you will already have understood from the title, it is not a question of positive news for fans of phablets marked Xiaomi. In fact, Lu Weibing said that the brand is not working on the future Mi Max 4 or Redmi Max, and that therefore the series can already be considered dead.

This obviously does not mean that the situation is destined to remain so. Both Xiaomi and Redmi could decide to resume the series in the future, but at least for the moment (and let's talk about months), the situation is destined to remain so, with no Mi Max on the horizon.

We have to admit that we were a bit disappointed with Weibing's words, but obviously it's not his fault. Weibing had only given further hope to those who wanted to see a Max device in the coming months. Unfortunately, these users will have to wait longer (hopefully).

Finally, remember that the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 was announced in August last year, so between poco more than a month later the presentation of his successor should have taken place. At this point it is quite obvious that this will not happen.

Now tell us yours. Do you also find Xiaomi's choice to end the Max series a bit unusual? Or are you of the opinion that Xiaomi already produces enough terminals? Let us know in the comments section below!

By now I have taken the mi9T, a very “small” screen, very little difference from my old 5.5 of the OP3. I would have preferred the 7 ″ of the max4… Amen, in 2/3 years I'll see if the max are resurrected.

I don't think it's a good choice to interrupt the Mi Max series. The contents that converge most constantly on the smartwatch are the multimedia ones and the public is looking for the big screens in high definition. Even the increasing care in photographic performance requires that the photos can be seen at their best. The spread of streaming systems must result in adequate and not medium-small screens. It is a matter of not disturbing the difficult balance of large screen, acceptable weight and manageability. Functional to all this is the autonomy that I think is one of the factors of the success of the Mi Max. Ben is the Max 4... Read the rest »
