It is now usual to talk about earphones in this blog and we have really covered every shape and color. Among the types that are gaining popularity we have the open-ear or OWS (open wearable stereo) category, that is, the type of headphones that do not fit into the ear canal or cover it but, through different technologies, transmit the sound leaving the ear free and therefore allowing you to have a complete perception of environmental sounds, without being isolated from what surrounds us. This category is generally confined to the sports field but in reality, the comfort they provide is appreciated by every user. The open-ear Nurati S10 headphones have arrived: ergonomic design, no pressure on the ears, up to 25 hours of battery life, TOP sound quality and ENC noise reduction. The quality-price ratio is very good and I will talk about it in this review.

Nurati S10 are TWS earphones with an open-ear design based on Bluetooth version 5.4 connection. The technology is not bone conduction, used in other similar products, but air conduction. On a technical level, the dynamic driver is a single 14 mm, but given the shape of the earphone, a different structure has been adopted compared to the classic linear design; in this case, in fact, a driver with a slight protrusion has been designed to move the sound physically closer to the ear. This is a solution that guarantees better sound coherence without compromising comfort.

The supported codecs are AAC and SBC, so none of the most advanced and refined codecs intended for high-fidelity audio products. On the other hand, those who turn to this type of headphones are not audiophiles nor do they expect to listen to music at the highest possible quality, but rather comfort will be the aspect on which they will focus and in the case of the Nurati S10 this aspect is undoubtedly a strong point, thanks to only 15 grams of weight for each earphone and the headband that adheres well to the contour of the ear without causing discomfort after intense sessions of use, even in sports activities counting on an IPX4 protection, without fear of drops of rain or sweat. The soft silicone headband joins and merges seamlessly with the main body of the earphone, while the latter rests in the cavity of the ear with rounded and soft shapes.

That said, the body of the earphones itself does not have the classic touch-sensitive area, but we have a physical button that therefore avoids involuntary touches by the user. You can perform a single, double, triple or prolonged press which translates into a different command such as volume adjustment, skip the music track, play/pause and call the smartphone's voice assistant but also manage calls with answer, hang up and reject. The controls are not customizable as there is no companion app which also means the absence of any sound customization.

The case also reflects the same simplicity of the product and shares the aesthetic dictates: the measurements are more generous than the classic TWS, because it must contain the two earphones placed on the charging base, but the thickness manages to be minimal and therefore easily manageable in the bag or even in the pocket of the trousers. Inside the case there is a small LED display that shows the battery charge status of the case itself as well as of the earphones. The plastic materials are of good workmanship although not excellent as they seem easily subject to scratches despite the hinge being quite solid. The back of the case houses the USB-C connector for charging.

The first thing that one legitimately wonders about a product of this kind is what the sound quality is like. Starting from the assumption that it would be wrong to expect a level similar to the in-ear equivalents that for easily understandable reasons guarantee a superior sound output, it must be said that the Nurati S10 are in some ways astonishing: in fact, the music is very pleasant to listen to, with good acoustic complexity at all frequencies, just a little light on the bass but still fully satisfying. The acoustic dispersion is truly very limited: even at high volume you can't perceive anything of what the user is listening to, unless you get within a few centimeters of the earphone.

The telephone performance is also convincing, with the voice that can be heard well on both sides; the presence of a double microphone assisted by an ENC algorithm allows to reduce ambient sounds and ignore wind noise, making conversations clear and well audible. Excellent in city traffic, a little less in environments where several voices could overlap. Obviously, there is no form of noise cancellation, whether active or passive; beyond the technological limits, it is clear that this would be a function that is the exact opposite of the meaning of this type of product, that is, to maintain as much contact with the external environment as possible.

The battery (50 mAh per earphone and 400 mAh for the case) guarantees a continuous autonomy of 8 hours, which becomes 25 counting also the recharge guaranteed by the case. This is not an exceptional value compared to normal earphones, because this type of technology has a higher energy cost; in any case it should be more than sufficient to satisfy the needs of most users. It must be said that some competitors do better, however at the cost of heavier earphones and therefore less comfortable.

So why choose to buy Nurati S10? Without a doubt, it is not a type of earphones to recommend to everyone, but it responds to a specific need of those who need not to isolate themselves while listening to music or audio. Typical cases are in the office, when you still have to be available perhaps to colleagues, or on a bike, when having the perception of traffic is essential to avoid coming to a bad end, or during running to use earphones that remain stable and that allow you to maintain awareness of what is happening around you. But there may be many other specific cases in which a product like Nurati S10 may be preferable, always maintaining a respectable audio quality.

AMAZON ALTERNATIVE
The price is only $26,90 on the official store that you can find here, but I will also leave you a valid alternative on Amazon while waiting for the product to land on Bezos' e-commerce. If the price is confirmed here too, this is decidedly focused and attractive compared to the direct competition. The design for the Nurati S10 is a strong point and overall also the technical sheet, but the absence of an app that allows for example a sound equalization could discourage many but in all honesty I find it a plus, because for this category of headphones, open ear, on the sound you can't work miracles and therefore an equalization would not bring any benefit.
