Il Reno12 features a 6,7-inch OLED display with resolution of 1,080 x 2,412 pixels e a refresh rate of 120Hz. While similar to the previous model, the top and bottom edges are now also curved, not just the sides. Unlike the Reno11 models, both new devices include Gorilla Glass protection on the front. The central structure of the phone is made of die-cast aluminum alloy, which better resists compression, helping to reduce damage if dropped on hard surfaces. Another innovation compared to previous models is the IP certification, with series 12 resulting water resistant (IP65). Furthermore, the display works even if both it and your fingers are wet.

You might think that this robustness leads to an increase in volume, but it is exactly the opposite: the Reno12 measures 7,25mm thick and weighs 179g, while the Reno11 was 7,6mm and 184g.

The Oppo Reno12 Pro is slightly thicker and heavier, at 7,55mm and 183g, but still less than the 8,2mm and 190g of the previous Pro. So not only are they thinner and lighter than their predecessors in the series Reno11, but they are also more robust.

Both Reno12 series phones have the same 5,000mAh batteries with 80W charging. Oppo claims the phones will retain 95% of the original battery capacity after 1,000 charging cycles. They both also use the same display, so why the difference?

The answer lies in the cameras: the Pro model has a 50MP main camera with IMX890 image sensor (1/1.56″, 1.0µm pixel) plus a 2x 50MP telephoto module and an 8MP ultra wide one.

Il base model has a 50MP main sensor smaller (LYT600, 1/1.95″) together with the same 2x 50MP telephoto e ultra wide 8MP. Both phones use the same 50MP front camera.

Another element that differentiates the Reno12 and the Pro is the available computing power. The basic model is equipped with the Dimensity 8250, which is essentially the same 8200 chip that was in the Reno11, but with a new “paint.” The phone is available in 12/256GB, 16/256GB, 12/512GB and 16/512GB configurations.

Il Reno12 Pro is powered by the Dimensity 9200+, which replaces the previous model's Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The Pro model is available in 12/256GB, 16/256GB and 16/512GB versions. Both phones use LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.

Additional AI features include transcription and synthesis of dictations and a document scanner which can handle even complex things like mathematical formulas. Phone assistant Xiaobu can also act as an English teacher and tutor for primary school. AI can also help plan your next vacation, and you can use it to create a personalized itinerary.

Il Reno12 is available in three colors: Millennium Silver, Soft Peach and Ebony Black, while the The Reno12 Pro is available in Silver Fantasy Purple, Champagne Gold, and Ebony Black.

Some other noteworthy details are the fingerprint reader integrated into the display (optical), NFC and IR emitter. The Pro model also has stereo speakers.
