As scheduled, Xiaomi's sub brand, Redmi, held a press conference in which it presented several products, including the long-awaited Redmi Note, Note 12 Pro, Note 12 Pro + and Note 12 Explorer Edition.
Redmi Note 12 Pro, 12 Pro + and 12 Explorer Edition official: 210W charging, 200MP camera and 120Hz AMOLED screen!
Let's start with the Note 12 Pro which differs in design from the Note 12 Pro + (of the Explorer Edition we talk about it in conclusion). The first comes in fact with right-angled edges and a total of four colors, namely Time Blue, Mirror Porcelain White, Midnight Black and Shallow Dream Galaxy (pink) colors with a finish that gives a vibrant effect. The smartphone has a thickness of only 7,9 mm and a weight of only 187 grams. In fact, it is the thinnest Redmi smartphone from the Note series ever.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro + instead adopts a design with more rounded edges and is available in three colors: Time Blue, Mirror Porcelain White and Midnight Black. To these, however, must be added a special version called "YIBO EDITION" which actually translates into a half black and half green body, with a large "RACING" writing and various drawings including a pair of shoes, skateboard basketball and others. Overall it is a design that should appeal to sportsmen.
Going to the specifications, the Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro + are equipped with a 6,67-inch flat OLED screen with a resolution of 2400 * 1080, high refresh rate of 120 Hz, touch sampling rate of 240Hz, 1920Hz high-frequency PWM attenuation, and a maximum brightness of 900 nits. The smartphone supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 / 10 +.
In terms of performance, the two new devices are the first to launch the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 processor, which adopts TSMC's 6nm manufacturing process and octa-core CPU architecture. It integrates two Arm Cortex-A78 cores with a main frequency of 2,6 GHz and 6 Arm Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 2GHz, while the GPU is an Arm Mali-G68.
In addition to the design, the two smartphones also differ in the photographic sector and in fast charging. The Redmi Note 12 Pro is equipped with a 766 megapixel Sony IMX50 main camera, which supports OIS optical image stabilization, along with an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens and a 2 megapixel macro lens. The front camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels.
Moving on to the Redmi Note 12 Pro +, this model sees an upgrade to the 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HPX sensor and OIS optical image stabilization. The sensor size is 1 / 1,4 inch which is 24% larger than the IMX766. The wide angle, macro and front camera are the same as in the Pro version.
As for fast charging, the Pro version supports 67W fast charge and can be fully charged in 46 minutes, while the Pro + model supports 120W fast charge and can be fully charged in 19 minutes. Both have large 5000mAh batteries.
In addition, to ensure the stability of 120W fast charging, the Pro + uses a 3000mm² VC vapor chamber, while the Pro uses a 2000mm² graphene vapor chamber.
In other respects, the two new phones feature dual stereo speakers, X-axis linear motor, NFC, infrared, 3,5mm headphone jack, dual standby dual card support, and Wi-Fi 6.
As for the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition, the smartphone is almost a copy of the Redmi Note 12 Pro +, but instead of the 120W recharge, we find an incredible 210W recharge, the most powerful ever on a smartphone. This is able to recharge the device by 66% in just 5 minutes and 100% in 9 minutes. Let's do it though the battery capacity drops from 5000mAh to 4300mAh.
Finally, we have the less exciting Redmi Note 12 which still comes with an AMOLED screen and a frequency of 120Hz. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip, has a 5000mAh battery with 33W charging and a 48MP main camera.
For prices, the Redmi Note 12 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will be priced at 1199 yuan (165 euros); the Redmi Note 12 Pro will be sold in China with a starting price of 1699 yuan (234 euros) for the version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory; the Redmi Note 12 Pro + starts at 2099 yuan (290 euros) for the model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. Finally, the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory will be sold for 2399 yuan (330 euros).
