This announcement not only underlines the company's ambition to progress towardsgeneral artificial intelligence (AGI), but also introduces a new consultative structure to ensure the safety of its projects.
The new security advisory commission will be led by Bret Taylor, with members including CEO Sam Altman, Adam D'Angelo and Nicole Seligman. This commission will have the task of review and improve OpenAI's processes and safeguards in the next 90 days. The final recommendations will be presented to the Board of Directors, followed by a public update on the measures taken.
The working group will also include OpenAI technical and policy experts such as Aleksander Madry, Lilian Weng, John Schulman, Matt Knight and Jakub Pachocki. Furthermore, external experts will be consulted to ensure that security solutions are cutting edge.
The stated goal for the new AI model is to further enhance the capabilities of chatbots and digital assistants. While specific details about the new model have not yet been disclosed, it is clear that OpenAI is aiming to set new standards in AI. This announcement comes shortly after news of the existence of a alleged GPT-5 model. Presumed because, apparently, the next product on which ChatGPT will be based will not be called that at all.
