The well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO has just unveiled its new Reno12 series on the European market with the launch of two new devices, theOPPO Reno12 and Reno12 pro. These devices are not just a simple evolution of their Chinese predecessors, but represent a significant qualitative leap, thanks to an energy-efficient chipset, advanced AI capabilities and a truly unique emergency communication feature.
Official OPPO Reno12 and Reno12 Pro: everything is focused on AI!
The beating heart of these devices is the Dimensity 7300-Energy chipset, optimized by MediaTek and OPPO to ensure exceptional energy efficiency. With 12GB of RAM LPDDR4X has always been internal memory of 256GB for the standard model and 512GB for the Pro (both expandable up to 1TB via microSD), these smartphones are designed to offer high-level performance without compromises.
The Reno12 series also stands out for its displays: both models boast a 6.7 inch OLED panel and with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution (20:9). Support for HDR10 / HDR10+ and maximum brightness of 1,200 nits they make the viewing experience incredibly immersive. The Pro model is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while the base model is the first to benefit from the brand new one Gorilla Glass 7i.
Photography is another strong point of the Reno12 Pro, which sports a main camera from 50MP (Sony LYT600) with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 8MP ultra wide module. But it's in portrait photography that the Pro really shines, thanks to its two 50MP sensors dedicated to portraits, both on the back and on the front, capable of capturing images with soft bokeh and AI retouching, as well as recording video in 4K at 30fps.
The base model, while sharing the same main and ultra-wide camera as the Pro, does not include the telephoto lens, replaced by a 2MP macro module. However, the 32MP selfie camera with phase detection autofocus is a noteworthy feature, rare even on flagships.
Both models come with AI-powered features, such as AI Clear Face e AI Best Face, which respectively enhance facial contours and ensure that all eyes are open in group photos. Additionally, OPPO has updated the feature AI Eraser, which allows you to remove unwanted elements from images.
As for text and speech, OPPO introduces theAI Toolbox, which leverages Google's Gemini model for features like AIWrite, AI Speak e AI Summary. The recording app offers a feature of AI Recording Summary, which creates text summaries and organizes them into notes highlighting to-do lists, times, locations, and other key information.
Autonomy is guaranteed by a battery 5,000mAh which supports a 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, which allows you to go from 1% to 49% in just 18 minutes and reach a full charge in 46 minutes. It's important to note that neither model comes with an included charger.
Il Reno12 pro shows up with one thickness of 7.40 / 7.45mm (depending on color) and a weight of 180/181g, while the basic model measures 7.6mm thick and Weighs 177g. Both have certification IP65 for dust and water resistance.
One of the most fascinating features introduced by OPPO is BeaconLink, which allows voice calls up to 200 meters without cellular coverage or subscription, transforming the Reno12 and Reno12 Pro into high-tech walkie-talkies.
