Until a few years ago we thought of Google as a search engine or at most as a developer of the Android operating system, but the American company decided to make the big leap into the smartphone market and the result today is that with its Pixel 9 Pro XL has brought a true technological beast onto the market, capable of overshadowing the much more renowned iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung's Galaxy S24.
It's true, a smartphone that costs as much as a kidney cannot have flaws, but this is not so obvious and if we think that the most sought after points in a smartphone are display and photographic performance, with Google Pixel 9 Pro XL the company has hit the mark, as at the moment the device has been decreed the best mobile phone in the screen segment and second in the world for camera.

With its Super Actua OLED screen, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is king according to DxOMark
If you are a smartphone enthusiast, you will probably be among those users who await DxOMark analyzes to verify which is the best terminal in circulation, generally considered among the most reliable and exhaustive in the sector. He entered the French DxOMark laboratory Google Pixel 9 Pro XL which came out with its head held high. Google's new flagship smartphone has been crowned as the one with the best screen in the world after obtaining 158 points in this test. After it we find the Honor Magic6 Pro, a device that for several months has led the ranking with its 157 points. According to Google, the KING also earned the gold medal "Eye Comfort", the highest recognition that DxOMark awards to screens. But how did Google achieve this goal?
The answer lies in the Super Actua OLED panel, which since last year has been making headlines for its phenomenal color calibration, with color reproduction that is very faithful to reality, practically natural, but which has a positive impact according to DxOMark, is also the automatic brightness management, which eliminates readability problems, neither in the sun nor in the dark.

Among the other technical specifications that have made the success of Google's smartphone we find:
- This is an LTPO 3.0 panel with an adaptive refresh rate of 1 Hz to 120 Hz;
- Its brightness can range from 1,48 nits to 2000 nits in HBM mode and 3000 nits peak;
- The 2K resolution is great at 6,8 inches because you don't need to go any further;
- The touch panel is very precise and fast.
Of course, DxOMark recognized that there are still things to improve, for example: more brightness and color than normal are lost when the screen is viewed from the side, furthermore, in SDR videos the brightness could be better. However, if you are interested in purchasing Google's smartphone you don't necessarily have to aim for the top model, but you can also reconsider purchasing the Google Pixel 9 which with its 156 points reaches third place in the rankings, still on the podium, ousting the fourth place goes to the Galaxy S24 Ultra which scores 155 points.

The Pixel 9 Pro XL also takes second place in the camera rankings
But the title of this article suggested that Google Pixel 9 Pro XL has achieved further global success, namely second place for photographic performance. DxOMark also tested the cameras of this device and awarded it 158 points, equaling the Honor Magic6 Pro, currently in second place in the world ranking, behind only the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra (163 points).
A phenomenal result and it doesn't matter that it didn't surpass Huawei because even though Google's cameras aren't technically crazy, the magic of Google's artificial intelligence has allowed the Pixel 9 Pro XL to overtake almost all the competition despite simpler hardware . In summary DxOMark gives its opinion:
- A very well balanced experience technically in the different tests;
- Excellent zoom performance, maintaining high levels of detail;
- Excellent image stabilization and autofocus when recording video;
- Qualitatively consistent images in all test conditions;
- Excellent colors on the screen, very precise and natural (especially the skin).

The defects found by DxOMark are these:
- Some occasional issues when blurring in portrait mode;
- Specific texture loss in low light scenarios, especially in videos.
Well, the aspects to improve are not that serious and numerous, in fact rather common to other smartphones.
