Although the basic version of the Pixel 9 is not equipped with the telephoto lens, an exclusive prerogative of the Pro variant, the device still offers a series of interesting features that make it a high-level product. The display 6,3-inch OLED Actua, with a maximum brightness of 2700 nits and a resolution of 1080×2422 pixels, guarantees a high-impact visual experience, thanks also to the variable refresh rate between 60 and 120 Hz and the protection of the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass.
The front camera, positioned under the screen, offers a resolution of 10,5 megapixel and a 95° viewing angle, allowing you to take high-quality selfies in any light condition. The rear photographic compartment, although not including the telephoto lens, stands out for the presence of a main camera 50 megapixel and a new ultra-wide angle from 48 megapixel capable of capturing sharp and detailed images with a viewing angle of 123 degrees.
Furthermore, support for 8x Super Res zoom, laser autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) help make the Pixel 9 photography experience top-notch, allowing you to take professional-quality photos and videos in any situation .
Under the body of the Pixel 9 beats the heart of the new Google Tensor G4 processor, based on the ARMv9.2 architecture and composed of four “small” Cortex-A520 cores, three medium Cortex-A720 cores and one “large” Cortex-X4 core. Despite the loss of a central core compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G4 offers slightly higher performance, with an i11% increase in single-threaded tasks and 3% in multi-threaded ones. The Mali-G715 video core, while remaining unchanged, has seen a slight increase in clock frequency, going from 890 to 940 MHz.
Energy efficiency has been improved thanks to the integration of the new Exynos 5400 modem, which in addition to reducing consumption also supports satellite communications, allowing you to send SOS signals and your location to emergency services in case of need. The basic version of the Pixel 9 also offers 12 GB of RAM, which allow you to make the most of the new ones functions based on Gemini's artificial intelligence.
During the presentation, Google showed off some of the innovative AI features that will also be available in the basic version of the Pixel 9. Buyers of the device will have access to a free annual subscription to allGemini Advanced proprietary assistant, a neural network with an impressive context size of 1 million tokens and support for file parsing. Additionally, the Pixel 9 introduces the feature pixel Screenshots, an analogue of Windows 11 24H2 Recall, which allows the neural network to scan saved screenshots and answer user questions based on their content at any time
The Pixel 9 will be available in four body color variants: pink, light green, black and beige. The device will come with Android 14 pre-installed and will receive an update to Android 15 in the future. As with the previous year's series, the Pixel 9 will enjoy OS and security updates for 7 years, ensuring long-term support.
Only a USB Type-C charging cable will be included in the package, but the device also offers support for fast charging via cable at 45W and wireless charging to 15W, thanks to battery from 4700 mAh. The dimensions of the Pixel 9 are 72 x 152,8 x 8,5 mm, with a weight of 198 grams, and the body is protected according to the IP68 standard, ensuring resistance to water and dust.
Pro and Pro XL model
There aren't many changes in design between versions: only the case and screen dimensions differ, as well as battery capacity. Let's start with the differences: Pixel 9 Pro has a body with dimensions of 152,8 x 72 x 8,5 mm, a 6,3 inch Super Actu OLED display with a resolution of 1280×2856 pixels and a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz, as well as a battery from 4700 mAh with support for wired (45W) and wireless (21W) fast charging.
In turn, Pixel 9 Pro XL has a body with dimensions of 162,8 x 76,6 x 8,5 mm, a 6,8 inch Super Actu OLED display with a resolution of 1344×2992 pixels, a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz and a battery from 5060 mAh with support for wired (45W) and wireless (23W) fast charging.
Both smartphones have a Google Tensor 4 chip, which is made using 4nm process technology. RAM in the new Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL is 16 GB and the built-in memory goes from 128GB to 1TB. Both also have the same triple camera and the front camera is equipped with a new Sony IMX 858 photo sensor.
